Very long story in mini-format:
Billionaire Andy Beal wanted to play the highest stakes limit that anyone would play him for. No pro had enough of a bankroll to take him on, so instead a group of the best live players came together and "bundled" parts of their bankroll into enough to sit down and play him with. Doyle Brunson, Ted Forrester, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, etc., all took turns playing him.
What's fascinating is that he actually came out extremely well in these encounters, and had it not been for Ivey's last session he would have been up. If memory serves, he did beat Ivey the first time they played, though.
His match against Ivey is covered in the book. It did not happen recently.

If Ivey you know just wants to send a million or even 500k of that my way we will be best buds forever lol. I find it interesting how people can loose so much money in a short amount of time. If I lose $50 I would be sweating it...I am a ery conservative player and usually play only when I have the nuts LIVE. Online is a whole new ballgame. Online losing $50 is no big deal, go to the lower limit tables and you get that back in no time, I just find it interesting how you loose $16 mill... ??

Texas Dolly and I believe, Matusow, briefly converse about the game, in an earlier episode of "Poker After Dark", on how Ivey spent something like eleven straight hours saving their asses after The Corporation was down millions of dollars to Beal.

Beal is a great HU player. BUT, he has one advantage over his opponents, he is playing much more within his bankroll than the Corporation did. I don't know how to quantify this advantage, it may only play a small role. But I do believe it is a factor.
This is a great story and a good read!

Well there was a discussion between myself and another poster (who doubted me, and has now learned, never doubt me, I'm never wrong.........lol, ok jk....maybe) about Ivey taking $15-$16 million from a billionaire named Andy Beal. Anyways, it was about a year ago, and I'm guessing people in this forum have heard the story already, but for those of you that havn't heard about the story because they're new to the poker scene or ect, ect, here it is. It is an amazing story and if someone really thinks about the money that's on the table, they'll truly understand how much pressure was on Ivey and how good he was playing during this stretch at the table to win that much.
Andy Beal Versus the Corporation - 'Finished'
What an odyssey. Over the last three plus weeks, the story of a billionaire, and his fascination with poker has enthralled the poker world. Last night at Wynn card room, this story came to an end....at least for now.
Andy Beal got back in his plane, and flew back to Dallas... | | Read Entire Entry |
