While I'll agree Gold had some unbelieveable luck, remember it was Johnny Chan that taught him. Once he had the chip lead he just kept using it to his advantage. His style of play caught alot of folks off guard. After awile he could be honest with his cards so people would play right into him. He said don't play holding the best hand, and folks bet anyway.

The only thing I did like about him was the way he got that know it all to say FU and get hit with a 10 minute penalty.

I think the story of the WSOP was JH. He went much deeper than I expected.

The latest news on Mr Gold is that Bodog have ended their contract with him.

They said they need to branch out into Europe etc etc.

However, they have retained the contracts with their other US pro's

Read into that what you will lol

I don't like how he acted during it, but I really enjoyed him getting routinely outplayed in the big game. when he was leaving the table the players were begging him to stay. The main event is like a lottery now. He won, congrats, but we all know that he is nothing more than an amatuer..

Occasionally, even fish and fools have their day. When the cards run for them there is nothing anyone can do.

This is still no excuse for the way he acted.

I think it's just stupid to accept a stake into a tournament this large. If I work hard for 2 weeks and then have to give up $6 million bucks cause I was staked $5000, I would feel like such an idiot because I would only have cheated myself. It would have been so much easier to win my seat in the WSOP and keep ALL of my winnings,

Yes that's the guy. He's probably the worst I've ever seen that late in the WSOP. Gold in comparrison was much much better. Say what you will about him, but he did make some good moves and played the big stack well. I know, I know he got ery lucky and believe me I'm not saying he's a great player but compared to Nobles it's no contest.

I have to say I agree with most everyone here that Jamie's not only a lucky ass, but also just a plain ass. Last year's WSOP was the least enjoyable to watch in recent memory, between his foolishness and the number of people who kept advancing, despite terrible play. It was ery frustrating to see donkeys getting paid off over and over again, while pros were getting knocked out left and right after making the right moves.
Collusion is something that I wouldn't put past Jamie and after seeing the film, I'm even more convinced.

Jamie Gold is a bigger fluke than Moneymaker.........

AmbASSador is right..... Does he think he got any respect at the Heads Up Championship? I mean they pretty much have to invite the guy cause he got LUCKY and won the WSOP.
Looked like collusion to me then, looks like collusion to me now.....his friend was just to dense to figure out the signal.........

^ Agreed. I can't stand that guy or the way he plays. He got lucky, no skill involved.

Anyone who calls a bet with 45 off suit and gets 367 on the flop has incredible luck.

That's great that he admits his faults....WTF????? Any man admits his faults, let's not congratulate him for that. I don't like the guy, he plays the game w/o any respect for it i think. He shouldn't be involved in any of the High Stakes games where all the respected people play....well most of them are highly respected. It doesn't matter if you have the $$$ or not for those kind of events, you should have to have a respectful resume & Jamie "thedisrespectfuldouche" Gold shouldn't be there because of his disrespect for the game.

What a difference a year makes, I'd prefer to watch 2005's runner up to 2006's winner.

Joe Hashem...great for the game.
JG..... send him packing, which is from what I've seen exactly what has been happening.

I'm sorry, but everytime Jamie Gold opens his mouth, my skin crawls. The guy is a creep in the 1st degree. And that head shake (and look) was a complete (and obvious) attempt to signal to his friend. I don't care what he says. He's still a jerk.

12 Step Program for Jamie

1 Admit you have a problem and can't resolve it yourself.
2 Keep believing you can do it again, Knowing internally it was a fluke.
3 Turn over all your assets to the PPA
4 Look deep into your ery soul, then change the channel.
5 Tell every person who you bluffed and mucked. As if they didn't already know
6 Submit to the PokerGods whims
7 Beg for thier mercy
8 Make a list for restitution for your sins. Pay em all back.
9 Wherever possible.
10 Think about it some more
11 Pray again to the Poker Gods
12 After You have seen the light, Then think assistant to an ambassador status.

...Modified from the 12 steps as codified in The Big Book found at AA.

In that article, I didn't see what he was admitting he did wrong.

Was he admitting that he should not have promised winnings. Should he not have promised as many winnings. Should he have paid the winnings without question. Too many things went wrong in his situation to be glossed over with a blanket statement "Oops, I will do better by being a ambassador for poker."

I can think of many players way more qualified that I would listen to before Gold. D Brunson comes to mind as #1.

The other guy is a personal friend of Jamie's by the way. Notice how he looks at the flop, then "subtly" shakes his head at him. What's that supposed to mean? Looks like ugly collusion to me. If he wants to be an ambassador for this game, he has a ways to go.

I guess, regardless of his agenda or reasoning for doing it, admitting it is really the first step he needed to take. I think this is a good thing (even if he isn't 100% sincere). Now let's see what he does in the NHUC and WSOP.

Gold admits mistakes

In the wake of settling his $12 million WSOP row, champion Jamie Gold accepts he 'screwed up'

By PokerPlayer
March 2007

That man, 2007 World Series of Poker main Event champion Jamie Gold has admitted that he didn't handle his big win as well as he should have done.
Despite scooping the record $12 million first place prize, Gold has struggled to find acceptance at the top level of the game, in stark contrast to previous winner Australian Joe Hachem.
Gold, who had half of his winnings frozen in a legal wrangle with associate Bruce Crispin Leyser, has now commented on the situation, having previously been unable to, due to legal technicalities.
In an exclusive ideo statement to RawVegas.tv, Gold admits that he did not handle his history-making ictory and resulting lawsuit with Leyser well and that he now hopes to be a "great ambassa...
