I just love this kind of thread...Listen to this it might kind of make since. I just thought of this. Seriously..I did. I'm going through the process of becoming a prop player getting 130% of my rake I contribute.(helping fill tables to keep people at the table or starting tables for a poker site while playing with my own money)
Hhhhmmm...a poker site could have fictitious players in the computer system at arious tables that have an advantage with knowledge of cards on the table at that particular time. Management could be playing those hands at given times adding to the house's income. It seriously could be done without regulation in place. I think bigger ones would have too much to lose. But smaller ones on a network. Hmm...what do you think? I just thought of this so haven't had time to think it through more.
I hope I didn't just give ammo to the maladjusted.
If it makes you go hmmmm....give this newcomer to this site some rep

I think the new book I just finished "What no one else is saying about online poker" explains everything you guys are saying. I also agree with the author that money can be won playing online poker. If your first a good poker player, and try the right games, and have the right bankroll that would let you give it a fair shot for six months up to a year you may have a chance. Have a plan and stick to it. When the time comes for evaluation you either hold them or fold them, and move on. But you really have to understand the two different games being played when comparing live to online. There are professional collusion teams of 8 and more members all communicating ia there own server, all watching the same cash game coming and going from the same table without leaving a trace. And if cheating is nothing to worry about when playing online, why can't I bring my laptop with a poker bot program in it to a live poker game????????????????

hate to take the food out of the mouths of the kids I dont have, but after a long day at work, no live game possible, I can play a $5 dollar tourney and either kill a few hours or make a few hundred bucks!!some folks with bankrolls can do well, but I like to have fun for low stakes and maybe break even now and then. having the right to CHOOSE is the important thing...peace

My thought on this topic is, All the poker sites have bad beats, some more than others but the one thing I look at is where else can you have fun for as little as $1 or less? I work hard 4 my money and I dont party, so I figure that poker online is a cheep way 4 fun.

LOL If you think online poker is rigged, that there are incredible bad beats that won't happen live ... then you haven't played a live 3/6 limit table in a popular casino.
Poker isn't just a game of cards it's a game of people, and people are individual as snowflakes are not identical. The human quotient adds a quixotic spice to the game of poker that makes the game what it is.
Money is one of those relative things in life, some are born with a silver spoon, others are born dirt poor. One mans trash is another mans riches. As a key element in poker, the wager is highly dependant upon the human being making it, calling it or raising it.
When a poor person who's just won the lottery, or a rich person who's just acquired a windfall profit enters a poker game they tend to be loose with their bankroll. On the other hand when the poor person is wagering his last dollar or the rich guy has suffered a downturn in his finances they tend to be tighter with their bankroll.

I have my ups & downs w/ online poker as w/ everything in life pretty much. I think if you were on the opposite side of the spectrum & you were completely winning instead of completely losing @ online poker then your thoughts would be "online poker isn't rigged". If you ever go back to playing online again & if you go on a winning streak & the bad beats don't happen to you anymore for awhile then come back here & change your thoughts lol.

(fill in the blank).
If you think your hands hold up better on Bodog by all means play there. At this precise moment, there are 91thou and some players getting TOTALLY ripped off at PS(rigged) In fact, that's why they all play there. They are ALL online forum conspiracy inestigators. Every one of 'em!

There are two big differences:
1) live there is not poker tracker for people who have ADD and can't concentrate for more than 25 seconds. It removes all brain power and concentration skills from the game. You don't have to even watch the table to know who is in the hand and their general tendencies. Anyone for $60-$100 dollars can equip their computer to track every hand you play and you opponents. You no longer have to remember a single thing. No talent required, just the money.
2) there are NO tells with online except betting patterns. Good internet players bet close to the same if they are bluffing or have the nuts so even that is marginal at best. How long it takes them to call or raise can be anything from your connection speed to his.
You take out the brain with poker tracker and remove reads with staring a pictured avatar and the games are not close to the same. It is like saying if you are good at Madden then you can play in the NFL. The rules are the same but the game... | | Read Entire Entry |

Search through the forum. There are a number of posts that are similar to yours. I think I can speak for the rest of the forum when I say "We Agree". All Poker Sites Are Rigged. That's why we continue to trow our money away.
You need to learn a new strategy. Bottom pair is more profitable than AA. You will always hit your flush/straight draw. Find me at the tables some time and I'll teach you how to play this style of poker.

gee I wanted to thank you, now I dont feel so alone. On the good side of the news bodog hands seem to hold up pretty well, came in second place out of 1200, I can say one thing for sure stay the hell away from poker stars, total rip off. I think what your trying to say is that the hands on online poker just dont hold up like they do in real life, so you are seeing what alot of know for a fact, its rigged big time and all of poker players will never get a fair shake until the Nevada gaming commission steps in and regulates it, its about as simple as that. Anyone that tells you different is full of shit point blank.

From doing well at your friends house to internet poker is about like comparing apples to oranges.
Real poker and internet poker are two sides of the same chip. If you are a good, or great reader of people, live is your avenue. Expecially if you can prevent good reads on yourself. Internet poker is different in that you get no physical reads, and the betting pattern reads are obscure at best. However, the fundamentals of the game remain the same. In this case the fundamentals of the game include the most advanced moves short of reading a pulsing cartoid, heavy breathing, or sweat dripping down a brow.
Still, if you truely have the bug, then internet poker offers all those things which will satisfy the itch. Reads can be made in whether a player is a total noob, or has a clue, and often, how many clues a player has.
It does take some getting used to. Did for me anyway.

This may be a cliche topic (and if so I apologize) but I'm curious if others feel as I do. I had gotten swept up into the poker thing a few years ago, only after a few months of good play at a friends house I decided to do what everyone else had been doing. Hopping on the internet poker bandwagon.
...I can't stand it. It completely shifts the feel of the game, eliminates any possibility of a real read on your opponents, and I swear as god as my witness you will NEVER see that many bad beats on a real poker table. (Not complaining of only the ones I've received but all the ones I would see in a single game.) My bank roll fluctuated like crazy going on nothing but spurts. Sometimes I would keep laying the bad beats (not my fault they like my pocket Js over my opponents Ks) for a splurge of money or get absolutely raped with bad beats (such as the one above). Does anyone else get the feeling that it's not even close to being completely randomized?
Anyhow since then I've hopped off (afte... | | Read Entire Entry |
