I currently have made a 300 dollar bankroll in 2-3 months at bodog just from placing in a CC freeroll, so it definately is possible to build a BR from freerolls. Play in real money tournaments is different than that of freerolls, but I had no problem transitioning from freerolls to real money. Read the articles on this site and hands in the Hand analysis section, it will make you a much better player and you should do fine.

Freerolls can help your game as you get deeper into them. I played one this morning because I was bored. It was 315 players on FT, winner moves on to another tourney for Poker After Dark. I was just playing to have fun, and ended up lasting all the way to the final table. The game started the usual Freeroll way (100 players gone after 2 minutes). The game actually got really strong when it got down to 50 people. I finished second, mainly because I realized once I made the final table that I wasnt going to be home when the next tournament was. It was fun and the level of play really tightened up later in the game.

Keep playing, it cant hurt.

I started out online with the "free money" games about 5 years ago, I made a million in chips pretty easily and then donked them off playing as crazy as everyone else. Once my goal was attained of reaching that Million mark, "free chips" lost it's luster and I lost interest in playing.

It's probably different for everyone but I didn't regain interest until I started playing with real money. And lol reaching that million goal in real money ain't as easy as it was with free chips.

I didn't have the patience as some folks here do to play freerolls to get into the money and then try real money games so I bought in.

Free chips and real money are two completely different animals, kinda like playing low limit nickel and dime is different from playing the high stakes 10,000 dollar buy-in's.

If you enjoy the game you'll answer this question yourself as you discover the nuances between then different games as you experiance them. In my opinon it can ...

We have a number of ery good players here who started building there bankrolls playing free rolls & several, BBB comes to mind, who use free rolls to work on changes in there game. Quite a few of us play CC free rolls regularly, although its mainly to socialize & to promote the site to the new folks just trying out the site. As PQ said practice is good, you just have to keep in mind that the play is going to be much looser than buyins & not read too much into your successes or failures in free rolls. Good luck, welcome to the site & hope to see you at the tables.

any time you can practice it is good. believe it or not some donks have big bankrolls. money does not make the player. i know some here disagree with me but i find it to be the truth

I'm a newbie, having only played holdem since last year, but played regular types of poker since I could count (home games only). My question is this - I love tournament nlhe, don't have money to deposit to play for money so have been playing freerolls to try to start a bankroll. I want to know what you all think about playing these - does it make you a better player having to deal with all the donks, bad beats and so forth, or does it make you a worse player? Any comments appreciated!
