Here is an interesting link I found, yeah it's two years old but still interesting: http://www.internettexasholdem.com/phpbb2/rake-comparison-by-poker-site-vt30145.html

based on the following rake structure: http://www.pokerroomrake.com/dollar.asp

I hate the paradise software two, but the 5 max game are soft and their bonus and rake structure are solid. They always give us new bonuses as you can see on the forum!

As far as prima is concerned, it's been awhile since I've played there. I can say that earning 2 BB more per hour on a 10x raked hands than a pokerroom 7x weights on my mind even though the players are tougher and they are less tables to choose from.

I am more of a bonus whore, I like to jump from offer to offer, whichever is the best. I work hard on my game and love reading about the game. Setting an account takes me 5 minutes so it doesn't bother me that much moving around. This summer I would like to spend a lot of time on prima as a main site but I can...

Good points, mamasan, and yes, b-hustler, I only looked at my level (1/2).

Usually when I start a bonus, I try to figure out what the numbers (rake - bonus - rakeback) will give. On Crypto you can get monthly bonus plus 30% or so rakeback but obviously they make up for it with their higher rake.

Only problem when calculating (like in the thread b-hustler linked) is that the rake depends a little on the distribution of pots (so and so many % of 3 BB, 4 BB etc pots) so you can estimate the rake. So I would also be very interested in numbers from your experience like rake in BB/100 or Potsizes!

Maybe if I have time I'll do a little simulation on it... cause it's definitely an issue for any bonus whore, I am afraid lots of people here chase bonuses and pay higher rake so in the end you spend your time for nothing. Except the top boni like e.g. party 5x.

at 1/2 $0.25 per $5.00 cap $1.00

But they're increasing rake at $2/4 and above (they start raking at $10 instead of $20 pots).

good post humorist. just a remark - by far the worst rake is at crypto sites at pound tables. rake would be somethin like 0.5 per 5$ Rake Cap: 6$ there.

BTW, importance of rake was previously discussed (wrong rake numbers nowadays i guess, but still good to get a feeling how important rake actually is)

Well, Humorist, that is an outstanding post and more than I expected!

I started OnGame doing the Eurobet bonus + 33% rakeback, which was ok but I agree that the software isn't great, and your numbers confirm what I have from my games - that their rake structure is one of the worst indeed.
I was really surprised to see that for me it was 3 BB/100, which is about double of my winnings if I run good ... hm.

Paradise software really is not that great, but games there were pretty soft if I remember right.

All in all, I am not primarily a bonus whore for the pure sake of it - I want to play winning poker and pay not too many dollars to the site, so game selection and softness _is_ an issue. Also if the software sucks and I can not play 4 tables I lose money and time. So it's kinda hard to decide where to go next ...

On Prima I did the Riviera and Dream signup but I wasn't too excited about their software. What would be your suggestion for Prima - you seem to ...

I would also be interested in seeing some of those BB/100 hands though.

I don't have a big BB/100 hands database but I am playing 1/2 limit and I take the rake structure into consideration. Here is the rake structure at the major poker networks:

Absolute poker = 0.25 per 5$ Rake cap: 3$

Cryptologic = 0.25 per 5$ Rake Cap: 3$

Full tilt = 0.25 per 5$ Rake cap: 1$

Ipoker = 0.50 per 5$ pot, 0.75$ per 12$ pot et 1$ for a 20$ pot Rake cap: 1$

On game network = 0.05$ per 1$ Rake cap: 3$

Pacific = 0.30$ per 3$ pot, 0.40$ per 5$ pot, 0.75$ per 12$ pot and 1$
per 17$ pot and more. Rake Cap: 1$

Paradise = 0.25$ per 5$ Rake cap: 1$

Party poker= 0.50$ for a 5$,pot 0.75$ for a 12$ pot, 1$ for a 20$ Rake cap: 1$

Poker Stars = 0.25 per 5$ Rake cap: 1$

Prima =0.25$ per 5$ Rake cap: 1.50$

Ultimate Bet = 0,25$ per 5$ Rake cap: 1$

Best rake structure for the 1/2 limit games:

1- Full tilt
2- Paradise
3- Ultimate Bet
4- Poker St...

Hey guys, just did a little math on my last bonus and would ask you for confirmation ...

I just cleared a $ 100 6x Bonus at Ongame on 1/2, sounds like a good thing.
So I wanted to check what the bonus is in terms of Rakeback or total return.
During the bonus I paid $157 Rake and got the $100 what is like a 60% Rakeback. OK.
If I divide total rake by hands, I get 3.17 BB/100 rake. Hm ... sounds much ... Including the $100 bonus it is like 66% rakeback or about 1.15 BB/100.

I checked on my last 6000 Hands on Pokerstars, there the rake is 2.19 BB/100.
On Crypto I get 1.82 BB/100 but there are some FR games mixed in, so the number might not be correct.

So this sounds to me a little like "pay a lot, get a lot back" In fact the bonus is still fine, but not as good as it sounds first, compared to Stars where I like the software much better it's "only" a 33% rakeback. Imho we should take the rake into account when doing a bonus so the overall...
