Personaly I would have folded her raise. However, the call was not soo bad, and I imagine it did your table image wonders there.
You had to show down your cards, and when they see you are willing to gamble with 84s, several things can occur. They can figure you are way too loose, or they can figure your not going to put up with any shinanigans, or they will start calling you more, or they will figure you are the luckiest sob they seen today.

All of those things can really shake things up, and if that call was outside your normal range, then the meta game benefits might have even compensated for a loss, which didn't happen.

Your read seems good, and you did get lucky you sob!!! you!

That person obviously didn't know that most chip leaders will call with almost anything and plus A-9 wasn't that good of a hand preflop.

I agree. Did she think A9 was golden when raising pre? Or her call with no pair when putting all her chips in? geesh. Don't worry about it. I don't think it's outside normal realm when calling a short stack with "bad" cards and hitting. Don't feel bad when someone makes a move with bad cards and calls you names unless it's a family member. Drunken fist fights on the fourth of July between you and your Grandma on the patio are permitted as long as there's no cheap shots thrown! lol

She cant really call you a donkey after she calls an allin bet with A-9.
The fact that shes small blind tells me she was first to act and checked then called your allin with nothing -(A-9 raise from that position against chip leader is brave).

You calling 8-4s tells me your both are as bad as eachother lol.

I don't like anybody stealing my BB so I would have called, and as for her calling you a donkey, she's the one that raised preflop with ace rag and then called your all in with nothing but overcards and a runner runner str8 draw.

What are the Chip Stack sizes? Sounds like from what I read she should have shoved all in pre flop..

Why did she call your push? Was her preflop raise a large portion of her stack?

Depending on her stack size relative to the blinds, she might have been pot committed, and maybe she should have just pushed preflop. If she was planning a stop and go, your push took that away which is the risk she took preflop.

As it is, I don't see any problem with your play, depending on how much of your and her stack the 400 represented. More chip stack detail would help to clarify.

I would of called with anything, hope to get lucky on the flop and put her allin.
If the flop misses then get out. The blind is 150 and she raises 400 total, i belive its worth a try against a shorter stack!

I'm chip lead... everyone folds in my big blind. Small blind raises me. I have 4s8s and I get the ibe that my chain is being pulled so I call. 2 3 8 flops rainbow. I push her all in and she calls with A9 and loses all her chips. She then proceeded to call me "donkey" and a "rotten player". I felt kinda bad, but only kinda. How do you feel about these kinds of moves? Am I a donkey? It was outside my normal realm of play but it worked.
