I hate Aces for a different reason , I hate them because donkeys willl play almost any ace like its gold . Nothing hurts more then when you raise and reraise preflop with your high pair and get called and whats right there on the flop?, a freaking ace! Now I have to throw away my KK because the donkey called a raise and a reraise with Ace something . I think thats the card I hate the most.

I have changed the way I play pocket rockets, and it works a bit better.
When they are dealt to me, I first realize I will be willing to get all my chips into this pot. However!
I do NOT do it with an all in bet unless some other fool bets it first, I will reraise then but still not all in unless they do it first. A standard raise will get many to fold where an all in bet will not. When somebody comes back at me, I can feel pretty good about them having a real hand, but they will be behind me at all times preflop. Ok, there is that once in a zillion time they will have the other aces, but I've seen more royals than AA s AA hands.
If someone has comes back over the top pf, more than likely, even early in a Tourney, most everyone else will have dropped out. Even most neophytes will recognize this hand is not a lottory. That is when all the chips go in.
The difference between a fast All in and the standard raise seems to be significant. I am always happy to take the pot ... | | Read Entire Entry |

This and the quote it refers to show that over time the stats stand up. With AA, preflop, and one caller, u will win about 5 in 6 - but over time.
If I pick up AA in early position and I know we have a maniac on the table I will raise small, 3 times bb, or flat call, knowing the nutta will raise. If, however, the whole table limps, I`m gonna be ery cautious. My ideal move is UTG, AA, I call, fold, fold, raise 3xbb, fold, fold, raise 10xbb (phycho man!!!), sb fold, bb fold, I reraise all-in.
Let him try to bluff you now first raiser normally folds (he is a decent player that knows hes beat) phycho guy folds and is quiet for the next few rounds, or his pride gets in the way and he calls with KJ.
Give me AA everytime, please

Sure its a safe play sometimes.
Imagine sitting at the 2nd last table with one player to be eliminated before the final table and you are mid stacked on the Button.
Three people before you go all in and easily have you covered. You would be all in against 3 players who cant fold and they all have 5 cards to beat you.
Easy fold

It depends on who you are playing against and at what level you are playing.
Go all in preflop you should just pick up the blinds. You might get a call from AK, KK or QQ. That is the ideal situation.
If you limp in you will get called by BB playing 83 who will probably hit two pairs.
Then its your fault that you lost.
If you are playing against idiots or at a ery low level / start of a re-buy tournement be aware that people will go all in with nothing.
-
So - Situation, Position and the level of poker should be taken into account.
As for how much of an idiot your opponent is, its something only you can analyse.

The last 3 times I've AA, I can't get paid off. Last time, I was on the button and it's raised before me 0.30 (.05/.10). I reraise to $1.50 and everyone lays down.
I pushed twice with them before and got paid off each time. But the last 3 times I catch them when noone else has anything.

Exactly what i was going to say.......
My advice is that AA is a lethal starting hand but don't assume it trumps all and be cautious because even 7 2 OS can become the nuts on the flop.

Most players will go to their death with KK and AA. Of course there monsters preflop, but must also be played realizing in most cases you only have two outs to improve your hand. A good poker player can lay them down.

AA has harder decisions when reraised after the flop. You know you are ahead preflop. A reraise after the flop is usually declaring that you can beat top pair. Does it mean they have a set or two pair? You can also beat top pair so now you have to decided what to do. I like to keep the pots small and not reraise alot with them. Keep the pots smaller to keep the loses in check but max alue when you still win.

In poker never say never, say it depends. One of the big mistakes you can make is to become results orientated. Ask yourself this, if you have pocket A's & you KNOW your opponent has 83o & will call any bet you make would you go allin or just bet a small amount on the off chance he might sickout on you. If you are only going to be aggressive with the absolute nuts you are going to lose consistently & attentive players aren't going to pay you off on those rare occasions when you do have the nuts. By the way was that List who had the 83o? He's an unconscionable lucksack you know.

ask your self if you prefer to win lots of small pots with pkt AA o a few big pots, in a long term youll find the answer...
