My weakest point in poker is also heads up.
Im not so bad in cash games or when the blinds are low, but at the end of a tourney heads up i just always lose.
What i usually do is wait for a good hand then push, thats probs not the way to do it and thats probs why im rubbish heads up.. lol

Play single table SNG's!, that's one of the best places to get a feel for final tables that you can get for practice.
9 to 7 players=TAG 6 to 3 players loosen up a little, 4 to 3 players loosen up even more. Heads up is a "head game", ery psycological.
Table image is so much more important at the final table, you have to set up plays and knock them down, be aggressive from 6 players left down to the final two. That's selectively agressive, smart aggressive, reading your opponents styles correctly and use their strengths and weakness's against them.
Aggression usually wins, that means raising with almost ANY two cards, if you hit the flop punish your opponents, when your weak "any2" hits the flop for two pair, top pair plus flush/straight draw PUSH.
Calling and folding isn't an option, betting and raiseing are the tools you need to "read" your opponent, you have to get a feel, "use the force", for your opponent, if he pla... | | Read Entire Entry |

Nice one mate.
In fact I think heads up poker is probably my most hated part of tournament poker. I even prefer the bubble to playing heads up.
When you win its great but when you get screwed by another 60 / 40 going against you it can drive you insane!

Yeh exactly man. In heads up, as long as you have enough chips to do damage to the other players stack with a double up, dont worry too much about folding to lots of raises. Try to trap as opposed to steam roller the opposition and when you have a hand you think you can do this business with PUSH! Calling isn't a good option in heads up, its either raise or fold when deep in a tourny.
Good luck mate.

Fold more, raise more, and as always be willing to lose it all while making every sane attempt to win it all.
Fold 3 or 4 in a row to illians raises. You know he is betting most of those raises with air, but your air just doesn't seem 'good' enough. The folding will do a couple of things.
1, falsely build up his confidance
2 when u do raise, he's gonna believe ya.
3 he may begin to realize you'r on to him. You'll know when he stops raising.
Don't feel pressured to call with total garbage. Limping is not advised more than 10-20% of the hands. Raise anything connectable, or suited big-littles.
But then you knew all this right?
