Don't think I'd play a hand for someone -- I'd feel bad if i lost their money, and if I made a great play, I might not want to hand it ovr to someone who thinks drinking is more important than poker!

Poker is not tag team sport for sure! I agree totally!!!!! I am a newbie at playing poker, but have not done too badly..but would still have ethics about playing or finishing a hand someone else started.

I too, as you, would back off of playing on someone else's money. Would fold or check.. but would not feel comfortable raising or going all in.

I'll take a (relatively inexperienced) stab at this. Poker is a solitary sport, not a team sport. At least, in its essence. So one player to a hand. Just like you can't call someone over to help with a tough decision in a live game or get someone to take your seat at the WSOP. There are no 'relief' players.It kinda seems the idea of poker as a solitary sport is getting lost online though. But that's a whole 'nother topic.In certain settings and games, there may not be any real harm. But it might set up bad habits or be a step down a path to (potential) future slippery slopes?

I agree with the above posters who wouldn't play the hand. It's never actually come up in any of my local games though. Maybe we all just assume the one-player-to-a-hand rule. Don't know. I can see if it was a totally for fun game with no money involved and in that case I'd ote 'A'.

I think you shouldn't let anyone finish a hand for you. If he screws it up and loses a lot of money (or chips) you gonna be pi**ed at him. If he wins you a lotta money he will prolly want a cut.
Hang on till the next hand and then sit out, or have a bottle ready.

I don't need any of that information because I wouldn't play the hand for him. First off, because he is already playing the hand, my taking over iolates a basic rule of poker (one player to a hand). Second, it isn't my money and I won't take the credit/responsibility for anything that does or doesn't happen with his money and that hand.
And yes I realize this is a home game, but my answer is the same.

Only one piece of information I would need: I am playing with another' person's money.
With a marginal hand, I would fold unless I have BB. Then I would fold on the flop if I didn't get a BIG bite. The information from the loo that would be most important, however, is who is playing like a donk and who is playing their hands using strategy and logic.
Which brings up a totally unrelated question. I am in the US and we don't call the restroom/latrine a loo. Although I am familiar with the expression.
My question: Is this where the person got the idea for the song "Skip to My Loo"?

History of the hand....sure everyone has there own tells but almost every has the same raise/call "structure" throughout the hand.

I agree.
You are probably at most only gonna be here this one hand, and unless the loo boy is playing with your money, you really are going to play this hand conservativly. You wouldn't want to go broke here unless you hate loo boy.
Chip stacks should be apparent, as the rules state you can't hide your chips.
For a 1 hand sit in, illians read on you in other games bears little consequence.
Your knowledge of the illian is more usefull than his of you in this situation.

Ok - you around a friends house and he is bursting for the loo. he asks you to complete the hand for him.
You are playing a marginal hand and have a good flop, but are also ulnerable. You are on the button. If you are only allowed one piece of knowedge to finish playing this hand, What peice of knowledge do you think is more usefull to you.
a) The history of the hand to date? ( eg who raised first etc etc )
b) Knowledge of how the player you are playing against plays flops like these.
c) A good idea of the perception that the player thinks of you.
d) The chips stacks of the player you are playing and your own chip stack.

For me it has to be a) Basics first. do you agree - if not, why not?
