August Goals:1. Set goals for August. Seriously. This month marks my one year anniversary playing online and I goofed it away like all my other freshman years. Get real or flunk out are the options and I'm going for the former.2. Study HH's within a reasonable time after every session. No more procrastinating. 3. Continue rereading books I have (many) and bring in more. Don't have any of the poker psych types yet so maybe I'll look for those first.4. Continue the effort to keep ego out of decisions in the game. Not doing so bad on this one but I'm pretty sure it's ego related when fear creeps in while I'm super-short on the bubble against the mega-stacks. Inexperience with end game too, I'm sure, which leads to...5. Play more (cheap) MTT's to get more comfortable going deep. Add in some STT's to work on closing. And try like hell to keep away from razz cash games while I'm doing this.6. After a so-so July in which I managed to break even after a horrible start, here are my August goals:
-as far as reading, finish small stakes holdem (I'm currently at page 32)and read HoH ol.3, plus read again HoH 1 and 2.
-play 5000 hands at least on 50c/$1 limit HE tables and make less mistakes (limit is my new experiment, I'm hoping to get better and better at it)
-play 25 tourneys of 180 seats on stars and try to make FT in 35% of them, winning or least getting HU in 2 of them
-get my BR above $2000, it currently sits at ~$1500
-DO NOT TILT when things go wrong, because as some point they always will and I need to work through it
It may seem that my goals aren't ambitious, but actually the 5000 limit hands worry me because of my non-excellent skill level, and I really don't expect to make a huge profit from it. I need to learn not to call down too much. So far I'm $33 up in that level after 400 hands , and not that easily either because I started in red after about ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Hi all,
Well providing my July goal is achieved (account getting funded) then I will set my august goal fairly low:
1/ Make it in the money in at least one multi-table tourney $5+
2/ Make it in the money in at least five sit-n-go tourneys $5+
Being a poker addict (or so i've been told) playing poker between 6 and 12hrs per day up to 6 days per week this should be achievable, check back in Sept to see if i've done a runner or not,lol.

Since I had a pretty good July:
1. Win a CC event. I've got a 2 month winning streak going, gotta keep it intact.
2. Get caught up on my poker reading. Need to finish Holdem Poker 4 Advanced Players; got the Little Green Book, and HoH 2&3 warming up in the bullpen.
3. Another getaway with the wife before all our charges hafta start back to school.
4. Build up my BR at all 5 sites where I have money.
5. Last and most important, keep making progress getting my health back.

1. Go through $220 in buy ins/entry fees for tournaments (I'll be out of town for a week, and not sure how much playing I'll get to do, so it's less than last month).
2. Read four more books. This number might be a bit high if you were going to pick Harrington or something, but I have a few shorter ones in mind.
3. CASH in a FREEROLL. Gotta get that ROI up, lol.

Umm Im about -$600 as of july... my goal is to forget about this experience and perhaps "start over" in august hehe
I want trying for silverstar too but... I cant seem to make the points fast enough.. made 700 this month (july) but i need another 800 ~~
Anyone have any tips on the best ways to make FPP on pokerstars? Id like to be silver hehe

1) Begin to get back on the upswing of ariance after a horrendous July.
2) learn to balance an infant while going awwwwwriiiiiiinnnnnn
3) Play at least double the CC events I have the last month and half
(that would be at least two )
4) Keep my ROI at $5 sngs at FT the same, double my ROI at $10 sngs
(if bankroll allows)
5) Get my bankroll back over 300 at PS
6) Handle the bad beats better

1. Get back to playing online poker.
2. If accomplish goal #1, then make sure to play in the Guys . Gals Game and do my part in making sure the gals crush the guys.
3. Get online BR back up to $3000+. Down to about $2800, although last time I played was a few weeks ago.
4. Somehow make sure JD doesn't reach his PokerStars playchip goals.
5. Don't let the kids I teach completely get at me, and not lose complete control of them by the end of August.

July's been good so far, following a poor June and a great May.
Anything over $1000 profit for the month would be nice and I'd like to play a couple of the big Sunday tournies (which I haven't done for a few months now).
Also like to play a wee bit more ring (50NL) and start to understand it a bit better than I do at the moment, particularly around decisions that involve the entire stack. I'm winning so far but I'm conscious I'm missing a lot of subtleties.
I'd also like to write an article-type post on MTT play, been thinking about something for a while and started but not got my act together.

Make an average of $10 per day ($300 for the month) playing $25NL and $3 to $6 SnG's.Manage my over-aggression by taking more time between decisions. Come up with a routine related to the time of my turn in a hand.

A little early, but ive accomplished my July goal of achieving Silverstar on Pokerstars, by moving down in the number of tables I play, and play on nl$100 one session in every 5. Results below. (brag).
August goals.
-Post more.
-Keep to my new disipline of not playing more than 2 ring tables at once.
-Play nl$100 one session in every 3.
-Play some forum events, and hopefully win one.
