Based on what, a slightly smaller field in this years ME?
2: with the European poker tour and Asian poker tour gaining ground, non-US players are finding it unnecessary to travel all the way too the US for a major poker tournys Why would these tours be "gaining ground" if poker is losing popularity?
3: less online satellite entrees because of the online poker ban in the US The answer to your point #1. Now this I buy.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
If poker is losing popularity,, where are the flocks of new internet players continuing to come from? Who is populating the EPT, the Asian tour, the new US tour, the WSOP circuit events, the WPT, and the HUGE internet tourneys, which attract bigger fields alla time? The ONLY reasons the field in this years ME is down is the changes brought about by the IGEA.
By forcing the online sit... | | Read Entire Entry |

Negreanu busted out on the ESPN featured table, so we're likely to see this. But on Day 3 with a still somewhat healthy stack he decided to push all in with 10 8 (top pair, gutshot straight draw) and ran into a set of 8s. Bye Bye Danny boy.

I believe Gus is 20th now (updated about 10 ago) with around 1270000 chips.
The other notables that I saw still alive were (not in any order) Chad Brown, Huck Seed, Thor Hansen, Scotty Nguyen, Humberto Brenes, and Robert Varkonyi. I might have missed some pros... I just browsed the names.

Yeah, Snake, like they don't already do it with 55 and 66... they will just expand their range a wee bit .

Gus made what everyone is calling a sick call which was how he first got the big stack.
He was on the button and raised, SB called and the BB shoved with 50,000. It was 47,000 to Gus. He went into the tank and finally called with 22. SB folded and BB had AJ. The 2s held and that put Gus over 200K.
Gus' opponent when he first saw Gus' hand said "That was a sick call".
Overheard in the room after the hand "I'm not sure if Gus is the biggest donkey in the world or my hero".
What's sickest to me about the call is that the absolute best he can be is a coin flip and could easily be dominated.
We will now see internet players all over calling big raises with 22.

Ob the 2007 ME is drawing a lot of attention as always. The other thing it is doing is creating a ton of new threads that all center around the same topic (WSOP ME). TBH, they are getting to be a slight pain to keep up with, much less to keep track of similar posts started by people that just want to start threads and not bother searching. While starting threads is fine and is part of what the forum is about, as this continues on, it's going to be just as annoying as 561789325 it's rigged threads.
So, going forward, please begin posting ALL WSOP ME discussions in here. It will make it easier for everyone to keep up on the goings on, allow for more discussion on individual posts, will keep the clutter down in the forum in general, and will avoid posting spoilers (that some people want nothing to do with) in aguely titled threads.
As this is a new request, any new threads posted will either be closed or merged into this one. Thanks.
