It's not that they are tracking you down for playing online poker. It's that when you file your tax return and something gets flagged by an IRS agent, they audit you. THEN they find out what you've been doing online.

Just pay your taxes and you don't have anything to worry about.

I think you would be pretty safe if you only made and withdrew 500 bucks.....but if you were to withdraw say...2500, then you need to take 1 thousand of that and find an attorney that can help you.....I really don't think ANYONE here knows enough about the law in any particular state to give you the information you seek....as smart as some of them are...

Good point and grey area. Most states, so far as I know, have their gambling laws posted online or otherwise available. Once upon a time, I googled Georgia gambling law, for instance. It's a pain to read and/or interpret and I wish you luck getting a definitive answer.

I dunno that i'd say they wouldn't track you down.....here is the downside.....In Michigan they are ery strict on Online poker....so strict, that for the WSOP contest that AOL holds michigan residents cannot win...even though you pay nothing to enter.

I do not know what they would do. Assuredly they would charge you considerably assuming that you cashed out, and didn't pay your taxes.

Hi I do not know where you live in the U S or UK but A frend of mine(from the US) was told depends on where in the US you live and how much you earn

If you do withdraw and report the earnings to IRS then it would not be tax evasion either. Right?

The real question is whether gambling on-line is legal or not in your state.
There are a lot of web sites that discuss that issue as it relates to US residents.
Just Google "on-line gambling"
