Phil gordon. Why? Because I got a three pack of his books for cheap and actually read them.

Sorry guys, have to say Brunson. There are times when you get forced to play and over commit, but there are some easy marks on some tables that more than make up for those loses. I ote Brunson.

I find myself rereading Sklansky "Tournament Holdem for Advanced Players" over and over. Seemsl like everytime I do I find another bit of information the helps me improve my game.

Super System I refer from time to time. Still good info in some sections of the book. Although, I would prefer a bit more detailed instruction on Razz. I have a league I play in that has 1 Razz game a month and I would like to become better at it than I am now. SS just doesn't go ery much into detail on Razz.

I am just cracking into Harrington on Holdem 1st book and it seems like it will become one I will be refering back to often.

And I will even give kudos to the Phil Hellmuth. I have Play Poker Like the Pros and refer back to it often as well.

I really don't have a favorite out of the 4. All of them impart their unique style to the game. I have learned from reading from all of these authors.

I always enjoyed ploughing on with Harrington. I really looked forward to the next bit of his book because it was all so well put together and all made good sense. Gonna order Vol 2 & 3 from Amazon cos you can't seem to find Vol 2 & 3 in the shops in the UK anymore.

With Skanskly (on the shelf now - half way through) I know I'll need to put in that bit more of an effort. It's dry and more of a slog because it reads more like a thesis - it still has some great stuff in it though.

For a breezy, readable romp, ya need ta get yer hands on John Vorhaus's "Killer Poker" and "Killer Poker Online". Vorhaus has a relaxed, informal approach and really reveals a lot about the psychological ins and outs of playing online poker - top quality!

Doyle Brunson just seemed to be a bit of a big head with his hyper-aggressive style (even though there are still things to learn from his Super System).

Helmuth? Pedestrian writer who brings nothing new to the tabl...

Harrington made me from a losing player to a winning player in mere days. There's something about his writing that makes it ery accessible to new players and advanced players alike. Information in there for everyone.

dan harrington is a good guy who knows the game but in my opinion is too "rigid"even in his explanation of theories i prefer sklansky cause he focused more on adaptation!

For beginners to intermediate players, I'd have to go with none of these: Phil Gordon and Tom McEvoy are both excellent for basic strategy. For the more experienced, Dan Harrington.
