Here is the book on Barnes and Nobleses [sic].

Figured as much, just wanted to check. Got it from Amazon anyway. Amazon Prime is my friend and the price was much less. Thanks AG.

I love this tactic, i have used it for years. When I was young dear old Dad taught me in poker, pretend it's a job and you're being minitored by your boss...who does not accept bad play...works great.

Thanks for the review. Definitely some topics in there that I would like to read about. Emotions and tilt are my biggest downfalls, even though I'm typically a ery mellow individual. Probably because my expectation are too high and I'm results oriented.

One thing I wonder if he touches on is frustration. For instance, I have made it to the final 2 tables of 6 out of 10 MTTs in AC. I only made one final table out of the 6 and finished in 9th. The other times I lost AA s J2o (trip 2s on the river), 77 s A4o (A on the river), AJo s 22, 77 s A7o (flush on the river), A8 s A10 (I flopped a straight and lost to a river flush). It's tough to feel like you've played well, gone deep many times, and come home empty handed.

These were all buy ins that I could afford so that impact on me is low, but to think that if I dodge a river even one of those times, I'd have had enough chips to go even deeper in the tourney or possibly win.

It's hard to have a positive outlook when you continual...

Extremely interesting and thanks for taking the time to do that. I'm a big fan of self-analysis in terms of state of mind and ownership of mistakes. Sounds like something I'd enjoy reading.

Thanks for this, AG.

I'd give you an "A+" for your book report.

Seriously though, some interesting topics. I'm more of a library book reader, so I'll have to see if our library system has this one.

by Alan Schoonmaker, PhD; published 2007. 324 pages.

I thought this was a ery good book. I took a little while to get into it: the first 60 or so pages (Part I) are basically an argument as to why you need to be logical and analytical as opposed to "intuitive". He gives good arguments in the 'books s experience' debate, and I will probably reference this book in any debates on that subject in the future.

Part II starts to get a little better as far as the reading. He first talks about arious forms of denial, their consequences, and suggestions to combat them.

The chapter titled "Are You Really Running Bad?" points out that you can feel as though you have been extremely unlucky for several reason, including: overemphasizing bad beats, denial of reality, and, most interesting to me, expecting too much. Here he starts to hint at the slim line between winning and losing, and how small the edges are in poker.

He goes on to chronicle how winning playe...
