Dealer qualifies with Q or higher.
The total combinations for a 3-card straight is 720 but for a flush, it's 1,096 which explains why a 3-card straight ranks higher than a flush.
I have had some big wins on this game, but a losing streak could wipe out all the gains.
My strategy is somewhat riskier than the average player; I always bet 2 or more chips more on the ante than whatever I bet on Pair Plus; which means the outcome of each game is either a gain or loss.
I would often Play with no hand (below Q-high) if I see many other players on the table going in, suggesting they may have a Q,K or A thereby reducing the chances of the dealer having a qualifying hand.

Oh, yeah! one of my faves! Table game in the casinos and they have a 3Card poker tourney, every year. You play s the dealer, who must have Q-10 (I think) or better to beat you. You can play your ante the table min bet) or you can play 'PairPlus' which is you're betting ony on your 3 card hand, that dealt to you will contain a ppr or better. 3 card str8s, 3 crad flushes, 3 card str8 flushes must are winning hands (in the pair plus and as against the dealer, if the dealer's hand is worse than yours)

Agreed. Those are played strictly for the fun and change of pace. Putting Lady Luck to work, as it were. Casinos are not built and operated on paying winners. Even in the poker rooms, they have the edge. They can never lose. Rakes and buy-ins are a guaranteed win for the house.
Have to admit - "trowin' dem bones" has a certain rush that even going all-in with a poker hand just doesn't match, IMO.

I agree on read the rules of play before you play. I could not figure out why a staight beat my flush? good thing I started off with play money. but it is always nice to try different games when you get frusterated with texas holdem(RIVERED). lol

It's a fun game - I will be playing a bit of it on my cruise next week. Though I prefer to play in land casinos - the cruise ships don't pay the same odds and it sucks lol.

Once a year, on my annual pilgrimage to Florida with the kids, my sister and I take one night and go on a casino cruise where we play 3 card poker.

The key thing to never forget is that three card poker is a CASINO GAME just like craps or roulette. The house will always have an edge over you in this game (regardless of size). Your "skill" in this game will never eliminate the house advantage. As long as you remember that, there's no harm in playing the game. I occassionally (once a year maybe) play hopeless games like craps and such, but I do so figuring I'll lose the little money I put towards it.

The game is mainly played .25 NL but the games can get quite the pots. You can play blind or look at your cards, and depending on what you do depends on what you pay. If you go blind you pay 1/2 what everyone else does to call or raise.

I mean 60 chips can't blame a player for thinking big.
I always bet 2 chips on Pair Plus.

I am a regular 3-Card Poker player in London casinos for many years. The game is fast and the house edge is quite low.
I find that if I hit at least one hand of 3 of kind or a straight flush within 2 hours of play or before I'm 600 chips down, I usually end up with a decent winning.

I played it when I was nearly cleaned out when my Ace high flush was beaten by a straigh flush at the poker tables. I ended up getting two royal straight flushes and won most of my money back. It's fun to play but not a game you really need to "master" like poker.

There is an online 3 card game called guts at some now obscure sites, which was a 3 card deal where str8s beat flushes. I used to ply it at a site called TheBike. UIGEA ictim.

Lol I wish it was that easy. I think it was just luck, because I still do not completely understand when i should fold, or when i should raise and see the dealers cards. Is there something in particular I need to look for, or just go on gut feeling?

Let me see, yesterday you deposited $250, 24 hours later you have $1500. Hmmm, ok.
Step #1 Withdraw all but $250 from your account.
Step #2 Turn the $250 into $1500 tomorrow.
Step #3 Repeat steps 1 & 2 ad naseum.
Step #4 Write a book.
Step #5 Make large donation to Crimson Tide athletic fund.
