Curt,
runner runner is simply any two cards that help a players hand, that they could not have won without. For example, your opponent pushes all in with aces after the flop. You call with nothing, and catch your 7 and your 2 to make two pair to win the hand. That is runner runner.

The answer to almost all of these questions depends on a number of different circumstances. If there were concrete and always correct answers to these questions, poker wouldn't be ery fun or challenging, now would it?

It's really tough to answer any of those question definitavely. There are so many ariables, including position, chip stacks, reads on the other players, you image, etc. There is no one right play for any hand. I will try, remember these are only personal opinions.

1) I try to play all my pocket pairs if I can. Mid and large pairs I almost always raise, small pairs I try to get in cheap but sometimes will raise with them depending on the table, position, etc.

2) I almost always fold ace-x with x being less than 10. Sometimes you can steal with it from late position. Ace X is hard because you can lose alot of money if an ace hits. Ace-2 thru 5 suited is sometimes playable depending.

3) I almost always raise with JJ, I don't want ace x, k x getting in cheap.

4) A raise of 3-4 times the BB is usually a standard play. But mixing up your play is good. As for calling all ins, it depends, I am more likely than alot to call with a good hand here because I am trying to accumula...

well thats all i can think of right now but im sure ill think of more later.

RE what is runner runner
Runner Runner refers to consecutive cards that complete your hand. For example if you have 3 to a flush and you have the turn and the river to get your hand, in poker jargon we would say that you need runner, runner clubs to make your hand. The same applies to straights.

Dear Kurt,

Some people play with 3 blind bets before the flop eg, $5, $10, $15. The middle blind in this example is the $10 blind bet.

Hope that helps.

Hi all,
Here is the list of all poker related words and lingo and their meanings, I think if you can scroll down as far as the R's runner runner is there also, well here goes :
Action (1) Opportunity to act. If a player appears not to realize it's his turn, the dealer will say "Your action, sir." (2) Bets and raises. "If a third heart hits the board and there's a lot of action, you have to assume that somebody has made the flush."

Ante A small portion of a bet contributed by each player to seed the pot at the beginning of a poker hand. Most hold'em games do not have an ante; they use "blinds" to get initial money into the pot.

All-In To run out of chips while betting or calling. In table stakes games, a player may not go into his pocket for more money during a hand. If he runs out, a side pot is created in which he has no interest. However, he can still win the pot for which he had the chips. Example: "Poor Bob - he made quads against the bi...

Hi all,
I would like someone to post all the lingo on poker here, i've been playing poker for around 5yrs and still dont know half of it, I only found out the other day that pocket rockets AA was also known as a bicycle???
I'm as common as muck i'm afraid, I know how to play poker but I just don't know how to speak the language. Just don't know why people can't just speak english and say "I have two aces" this would make it a lot easier to follow.
I suppose it's a little like the CB fanatics, they have their own language, no idea why.
Good luck at the tables

Hi and welcome.

Middle blind ? never heard of it .

And a runner. I think it's a runner. When you hit exactly what you need for your flush or straight.

Like you got 8/9

Flop comes: K - A - 6

you need : 7/10 or 5/7 and if this two are coming with Turn / River

it's a runner runner.

I am so not sure if i am right but i think it's this.

I hope someone else read and explain you.

I'll tried my best.
