One of the ery best investments to help your poker game is books...read up,do your homework..its that simple and works.I could never ever win a tourny until I did.Roy Rounder has the best in my opinion. And he has a free online newsletter for free that will get you started too.

To put it bluntly, if you need to ask that question, then you've probably wasted your money. PT is not a magician, it won't detect when you've tilted and kick your ass, and neither will it make you a better player. Basically it's a tool that will help you to analyse your own play and plug any weaknesses.
I'm sorry, but if you bought it as a quick fix to make a quick profit from poker then you're going to be disappointed. It's pretty much like anything else in life - you will only get out of it what you are prepared to put in by way of time and effort.
There's an article by Chuck in the "Strategy Articles" section of this site if you want to learn how to use it - that might be ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Well, the cost really is "minimal" at $55: CardsChat Poker Tracker Link
You wont regret the purchase, even if you just use it for bankroll management.

Poker Tracker has many options, and different people use it in different ways.
I personally find it most useful for post-game analysis of my own play, but many users rely on it for in-game study of opponents. You can use either method or both, according to taste.
If you succeed in plugging leaks in your game, this will of course carry over into live play. Opponent analysis is, as you say, useful only in the here and now.

I am wondering if using poker tracker would be a hindrance to B&M play. I can understand the benefits of using it to analyze my own game, and the play of others, on-line, but couldn't relying on it handicap my judgment when playing live games.
I've down loaded it, but haven't configured it yet.
I am assuming that by analyzing my own tendencies, and not using it to analyze others while practicing on line that it would be helpful in live games. Is this a correct assumption, or am I missing the alue of how seeing the numbers of other players translates to live play?

It becomes a chore to get FT Tourney histories into PT.
It apparently is geared mainly toward Poker Stars.

Depending on which site you are on it will work with both. I know I use bodog and currently only cash games work on it, not tournaments.

Hi
Just wondering if poker tracker is any good for checking tournament play, or is it solely a cash game thing. Any other info on poker tracker would be appreciated, just downloaded it, and it won't import my hh, which are all just tournament hands.
Cheers

<Stars Directory>\HandHistory\<username>
so if you installed Stars in the default place
C:\Program Files\PokerStars\HandHistory\Stefanicov
you need to have had the "Save Hand History" option in Stars (Options --> Instant Hand History...) checked though. If you haven't, check it for the future and e-mail their support and ask them for the HHs.

A godsend for online play and will give you mores statistical information that you can possibly imagine. Using the given info you will quickly learn where you're leaking money and be able to plug the holes. There are some really great tutorials about it floating around the net that give you erd detailed information about what ranges your stats should fall within for the sepcific limits you play and the type of game. If you want some links you can PM me and ill send them to you, as I don't want to post them publicly.
Oh, and hollygo, can I call you pocketfullofsass? Its such a catchier nick my fellow Farkette.

Basically you import your hand histories to it and it gives you a crapload of stats and info on your play (and other people's too). It's useful for identifying leaks in your game and stuff.
It can be quite daunting at first, but once you get used to using it it's easy to navigate around.
It's free to try for 1000 hands, then if you want to store more you have to pay $55 (i think) to register it, but if you're a halfway decent player and willing to learn from your mistakes it'll make you that money back in no time.

for the extra money you can make from having it, just buy it and don't be a cheapskate
we have a free copy to give away anyway, just need a good idea for some sort of contest to run to give it out as a prize
Its basically a program that can track your play and you can then see where you are losing money, winning it etc
if you download it you can try it for 1000 hands for free anyway
