Of course, the Jesus theory of bankroll management is just one of the theories around.

There are other pros who say in their books that it's practically criminal to leave a game where you're winning, the opponents are bad and there's more money to be won, unless you think you're not playing your best game any more.

Barry Greenstein is one that comes to mind as having espoused this iew (mind you, he also recommends playing in games that you're under-rolled for if you think they're soft), I believe it's echoed in Super System as well.

But don't let that throw you - just follow the approach that works best for you.

(The Jesus approach is probably more feasible online, BTW, because you can stand up, put away the 10%+ chunk of your bankroll, then sit straight back down at another table with a lesser amount. The theories I've mentioned above are skewed more towards live play, where if you leave the table there might not be another game available, or at the ery least you may...

Not if I don't double up or better b4 the bb reaches me it's not. That's the problem. I keep getting gr8 chances in the blinds. Then I keep getting really pretty cards. I shouldn't complain. It can't last forever.

I guess I'll keep doing what I've been doing 'till the luck runs out. Then switch gears. Hey, I don't take much so can't lose much when it does(I hope).

This is the part that you should be paying attention to. You can't get any "pretty cards" if you haven't posted the blind. Go ahead and play normally until the big blind reaches you and then stand up. Problem solved.

Obviously does not apply to limit games so I don't have to worry about it.

Yeah-yeah. Yeah-yeah-yeah. That's the one. Awe nuts, I hate folding pretty hands pre-flop.

Bad timing...

Cool I'm doing the right thing. At least for time being.

Please say it's okay. Pretty please.

It's okay if they're free cards. Chris Ferguson talks about leaving "when the blinds hit me", so he'll keep on playing until he'd be the big blind.

I think she's referring to Chris Ferguson's rule of having to leave if the stack on your table contains more than 10% of your bankroll.

E.g.: you have a bankroll of $500 and buy into a cash game for $20. You double up and take down a few pots, so now you're sitting with $55 which is more than 10% of your bankroll, so you should leave.
This is a rule designated for no limit games to ensure that you don't lose all of that money in a single hand.

I generally recommend to stick to this rule. If you have quadrupled up at the table and your flush loses to another big stack's full house you'll be in a pretty bad mood.

Well, that's the first time I've heard that, and if it's correct than I regularly break my BRM rules, as do many of the other contributors here. The point of BRM is to ensure you don't go bust, not to cap your profits. If you are winning, then I see absolutely no good reason to quit the tables.

Keep playing, and long may the profits continue.

Well? I can't help it, it's ery different once you have real money and the term "bankroll management" in your head at the same time. I've played with real money b4 but this is the first time I've had enough to manage + known that I should manage it(well, as best I can and I'm still learning).

Here's my problem, and I don't know for sure if it is a problem:

Lately(and it can't last forever), every time I'm ready to pack it in and leave - BAM! I get these awesome hole cards. And they're free ones too! Just like the bad ones they come in shifts ya know? Now I know that according to the rules I'm supposed to leave when I hit 10%(or miraculously better), but guys! Awesome starting hands! And then I play them not as usual but better, because I've been observing more.

I know I'm not a Chris Ferguson. Well, I'm a girl for one thing... I'm not a Jennifer Harmon or an Annie Duke. I'm just me...

Anyway, I've been staying, and I've been winning more than losing with th...
