By making less mistakes than your opponents over the long haul and playing the game and structure you enjoy most.

I would say by playing what your best at. Another good thing to do is by playing heads up, because you only have to beat 1 person. Me personally, I like the 6 man sit n goes. I really don't know the payout structure on Full Tilt, but most websites offer double your money for second and a lot for 1st. So just play what you are good at and stick too it.

Well in my experience, sit and go's are best for me. When I play in cash games I get up and then just go straight back down. It's better to be up and when you're on a losing streak only losing min entrance fee.

Of course, If you can win the $7K Freeroll at PokerTime Jan 17/27th that would go a long way to help out the bankroll

here is how to build a bankroll the donky way
say u deposite 50$, sit at a 1-2 nl table with ur whole roll and go all in every hand untill u have 80$ or 0$
then move up to a 2-4nl tables and sit with ur 80$
go all in till u have 120$ or 0$
do this again at a 3-6nl table till u have 200$
then at a 5-10 nl table till u have 400$
then at 10-20nl till u have 1000$ then play 25-50nl until u have 10000$
the smart way to build a bankroll
u have 50$
sit at a 1c-2cnl table with 1$ and only allow urself to rebuy 3 times
play at these stakes till u have 100$ then move up to 5c-10c and only put 2$ on a table
continue this till u have 10000${ may take a few years

Luckily, in todays online environment, you have many opportunities to build a bankroll from irtually nothing (in my case I started with a Free $10 from Royal Vegas Poker a few years ago and got super lucky and have not needed to deposit a dime).
With the many chances they give you to build at this Site, and the many Freerolls available throughout the net, you should be able to get a stake going. Then, it seems one table SNG play is the route many take to grind out a nice few dollars before branching out to other disciplines.
Another option you may consider to protect your bankroll is to join a staking site (such as neverbeg) and play MTTs and SNGs on someone elses dime. Then when you get a bankroll, you ... | | Read Entire Entry |

what games have you been playing to, not make a BR yet?
Whatever it is, try something else perhaps
its funny i started with cash games and was awful, then moved to S&G and could at least turn a profit.

Really tough question. Like someone already said, for MTTs, the entry fee is fairly small and the potential payouts are huge. Think about this about MTTs.... I spent many months playing Sngs and slowly built my BR from $100 to $3000. Then on one special and lucky day, after playing for about 3-5 hours in one rebuy MTT I won about $9000 and went from a BR of 3k to 12k. And during the next few months I started to play more MTTs and less Sngs, and out of tons of tournaments I only had like one other big cash, and I realized how lucky you have to be to get deep into a MTT. But one good run in a MTT is enough to cover your buyins for many many more of the same range buyin MTTs.
So for MTTs you're risking a ery small amount to win a huge amount, but it's ery hard to win a significant amount of money and you have to be ery lucky.
I dislike SnGs, because they still take a fairly long amount of time. Probably about 1-1.5 hours, and if you get first, you only win a small amount of money. Making... | | Read Entire Entry |

I just decided the "Doesn't matter if you win" statement's a bit flippant. Also that the if is a pretty big if.
A bankroll's not worth it's dollar amount if it's not managed well(and I've learned my lesson I hope), so try and focus on managing while building. Playing well consistently doesn't matter a whole lot when you hit an unlucky streak. So just try to manage while building and in that time try to find the type of game that suits you best. Once you find your best game type and also decide on tournaments, cash-games, or a mix, then you'll start building faster.
My statement was an ass way of saying "need more information" lol

Its different for each person, you just have to keep experimenting to see what works for you e.g. large NLHE tounrys, single table sit n gos, heads up mathces, heads up stud ring game. Just experiment, took me a few months to find im best at PLHE 6 Max ring games and full ring omaha

Playing tournys offers a big payout for a minimum layout, but also offers long odds of actually cashing.
Single table sit n go's offer a return of about 4 to 5 times your money for a small investment with better odds of reaching the money.
Ring tables offer pretty small returns (on a pretty good day you can double or possibly treble your money)but can consistently make you money through good patient play.
You have to figure out what mode of play suits your game and temperament best ( for myself I find sit n go's are best but a lot of money players swear by the ring tables )
I hope this helps
