I talked to a dealer a while back and if it's still the same, you contact Harrah's thru their WSOP website or Harrah's main site and they can tell you for sure. There were some set requirements and I'm sure you also have to get the Nevada Gaming Employee card. Fingerprints, background check, etc.

GL if you do. I would love to do it but the hands don't work that well anymore. When the body was ready the time said 'forget it'. Now that I have the time, the body says 'ha-ha-ha'. ...

Exactly the reason I do not allow my wife to work in retail clothing, jewelry, or any craft/hobby store.

Well, dealing in my local poker room would probably work out to about $30/hr, but my understanding is that the wsop is payed by the number of "downs" you actually deal. The toke rate sheet you looked at is simply telling you what rate they are going to tax you on, not the actual earn rate.

The base rate of pay kinda surprised me though - six bucks an hour?!? I make AUD$35 an hour (call it $30 US - we don't get tips) just working corporate functions and bar nights over here, just wondering if the tips would bring it up to anything resembling that kind of rate...

My understanding is that it gets up to a sufficient level, although somewhat less than the dealers want to make of course.

$30 is pretty good for the work you are doing, I was getting about $25 for a similar situation.

Probably just getting it out of his system - he's not allowed to tip dealers in Australia or Europe

presumably this means that he could throw the cards exactly where the players would be seated without having to take the time to look + aim

I was curious as to where all the dealers come from during the World Series of poker? Do they come in from compeating casinos? If so,do those casinos shut down their poker rooms during the event? Thank you.
