| Posted by: Aust1227 at April 26, 2005, 7:16 am | | Topic: Party vs. Absolute? Forum: Bonus Whores | From a limit perspective there are some good games on Absolute. The short handed .5/1 is a pretty loose games, on a good night 60% are seeing flop, and 60% of the hands are raked. Playing three tables of short handed Limit I clear about 90 raked hands an hour. That equates to $9 per hour.. not bad..
The big difference in Party and Absolute is the rake feature on NL. A raked hand counts on party as soon as it hits $2, which most hands (even at .1/.25 do); but at absolute the NL still has to hit the $5 mark, which pretty much makes .1/.25 worthless.
A second note is that absolute will only allow three tables at the same time. As opposed to four from party.
Bodog and Absolute have the most bonuses (both are bottomless for all intensive purposes). I clear a little faster at absolute, but I enjoy bodog much more. The players are looser, the SNGs count towards bonuses, and the full ring limit games are LOOOSE.. The only drawback on Bodog is that fact that you must contribute to a... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: TheFreeze at April 26, 2005, 2:04 am | | Topic: Party vs. Absolute? Forum: Bonus Whores | I had around $800 of bonuses stacked up at Absolute before they started expiring them. I think I cleared about $20 total .
I play mostly 1/2 and it was hard to find even 3 tables to multi in the evenings. I also didn't really like playing 9 max but since you play 6 max I guess it's not a factor.
One last thing to realize is that to take full advantage of Absolute bonuses, you usually have to deposit 1K. You cannot withdraw your deposit for 48 hours and you cannot claim a bonus if you have withdrawn from them in the past 12 hours. If your roll is not that large, they can tie it up quick.

Forum: Bonus Whores | From a NL Ho's perspaective I can tell you that Absolute Poker most of your opponents are weak-tight or calling stations. So what you wind up with is pretty tight game most of the time. The players per flop averages 35-40% at the NL .10/.25 tables I frequent, 35% is more common. As far as availability, I found there are usually 3-5 tables at that limit (I am talking 9 handed here). The .25/.50 NL tables seem to be more sparce, usually only one or two full tables. It does take some getting used to absolute poker due to the tight tables, but if you like NLHE, you gotta love there frequent reloads.

Okay, I get the charts now. I hadn't paid much attention to them before. Looks like Party clears about twice as fast as Absolute.
I'll have to weigh whether that's worth it or not, especially considering the better caliber of players. I do like the incremental pay-outs. Takes some pressure off. On the other hand, I kind of like the short, intense bursts of poker every month with Party.
Anyway, thanks again. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: ninguno at April 25, 2005, 11:40 am | | Topic: Party vs. Absolute? Forum: Bonus Whores | though i can't speak for NL, the limit games on absolute are typically much stronger (harder to win consistently on).
the bonuses clear in small increments, though, so it's a nice place to play for a while should you find a good game. | | Static Link |

I've been taking advantage of the Party and Empire bonuses for a couple of months now and have made some good money. I signed up for Absolute Poker, but haven't made any deposits yet. They seem to have a stupendous amount of bonuses, so I'm eager to try them out.
However, I'm set in my ways and a little wary about moving on to a new site. Those of you who have played both, how would you compare them? One of my biggest concerns is that I don't have a good sense of how quickly it will take to redeem the bonuses on there.
On Party/Empire it's usually 700 raked hands to claim the bonus. I normally play 2-3 tables at once and it takes two days of fairly long sessions to get that. To earn the same dollars at Absolute, would it take about the same amount of time/hands?
Another question for players of both is how much more or less than the bonus do you typically make at Absolute? On Party/Empire I play $25NL 6-max tables. I've played seven bonuses and h... | | Read Entire Entry |
