Since I quick chasing I've won as much as the bonus in play while also clearing the bonus. So, in essense you're doubling your winnings with no risk.

Good luck!
I took all of the advice givin, but I just wanted to come back and say ultimately the advice above seemed to work the best. I didn't realize until I actually looked at how I was playing that I WAS chasing too many dead hands, or wishing a card would come up. Since I stopped that of course I didn't become an instant winner but atleast breaking even.

The first book I read was "The Poker Players Bible" by Lou Krieger (at least that is how I remember the title and author - don't have access to the book right now).

It was a very basic book, but I have found it useful because it discusses several of the poker variations out there (stud, omaha and hold'em). It doesn't cover a lot of strategies etc, but provides basic concepts. For a complete beginner - in one or more of the games covered - it could be worthwhile.

if you are not very good at poker (dont know what basic pot odds are, cant read the nuts) then get Winning Low Limit Holdem by Lee Jones. i read this when i first started out and it was a big help. i have also notcied that ed miller from 2+2 came out with a beginners book, which i very likely better than Jones' book.

SSHE is the new definitive low limit book.
NOT A BEGINNER'S BOOK.

Good point. The other BW guys, Jek and Chris, have had a lot of praise for "Getting Started In Hold'em," the new 2+2 book.

If you are in it just for the money you should go play the casino bonuses. They are easy to clear and need no ability more than following a chart on how to play each situation. And if you are playing limit poker you are putting in 7.50 for each 100 hands. Assuming you take about 800 hands to clear you are putting in about $60. And that is a 5x bonus. Most are 7x or 10x. So you probably make about $5-7/hr.

Why would you want to do that anyway. Poker is supposed to be fun. Why else would you be playing. If you think you are going to make a fortune on bonuses you are kidding yourself. Bonuses should keep you from ever losing at low stakes but winning takes some effort. Ask some of the long time whores here and they will tell you bonus chasing takes a toll after a while. You lose your perspective on why you started playi...

clearly untrue. Even playing .50\1 and assuming every table is constantly full $20 in blinds will only get you 267 DEALT hands. Then of course is the problem that most bonuses are more then 5x. You need to be a good, disciplined, knowledgable low limit player to make whoring profitable.

I know I'll get slammed for saying this, but hellmuth's book is a great 1st book. Stick to the beginner's hands. If you stay at the same table for too long, you won't get much playback unless someone draws out on you cause you'll be playing wicked tight, but I was profitable for 3 months (not by much) until someone turned me on to SSHE and I found this site.

Hellmuth's book is an easy read and doesn't require any REAL thought process. IF THIS THEN THAT.

SSHE definitely not a beginner's book but if you intend on becoming a good poker player and not relying solely on bonus money, then its a requirement.

i agree 100%. while whoring is "easy" money, you still have to be able to play poker well. i have had some friends try to whore and they refused to do what was necessary to become winning poker player (read books, poker tracker...) and they eventually just gave up beacuse they kept losing on top of the bonus.

* i noticed you play NL. you may want to play some limit so you dont have to worry about busting out as much and it will be easier to laern how to play correctly on those tables anyways. if you want to play NL, there ...

Uh, how about not playing NL if you can't take the swings.
