Putting money into an online poker room seems a little risky at first, sort of like buying something from an online auction house might have seemed 6 or 7 years ago. I think one of the reasons poker is so big atm is because it's been able to reinvent itself time and time again and become available to more people.
Something i'd like to see in the not to distant future is a "virtual cardroom" where some sites may introduce webcam and microphone usage at tables to make it more "fun and social" for those who don't take it too serious.
Of course rooms like that would have to be mandatory (as in, you would be seated at webcam table and would have to have yours on) but i imagine that would appeal to many new players. | | Static Link |

There are those of us (myself included) that cannot play B&M because there are no casinos or cardrooms where i live. Although they have a card room at Starcity Casino in Sydney which is one hour by train, the lowest stakes are 5/10 and they also have an ante.
Second of all, it has alot of growth potential. Each year as young people become of legal age to gamble, i'm betting alot of them will try to play online due to the media attention of the WSOP etc. So each year we're going to have a new influx of internet players. Young and old.
Alot of people just play for fun as well, and don't care about the money. My brother for instance has been playing a year, but couldn't careless about improving his game, thinks pokertracker is hard to learn (i found using it was extremely intuitive). Some people just have no desire to improve their game and will play for shits and giggles.
