When 2x FPP promo was offered it actually unlocked you bonus 2x faster, one base FPP at the time gave u 2 FPP. But i don't remember it that was before the VIP program kicked in.

Roque, I appreciate the effort. I had figured this out but for some reason I recalled a lot of people loved it when they announced the VIP program. Then I thought of the times they offered double FPP's, put 2 and 2 together and thought the VIP program was sort of based around the double FPP promo.

Oh well, I still really enjoy the site now that most sites have banned US players. Bonuses will just clear at the same rate, no big deal...

I don't think you were naieve as such, the current structure of the VIP program is extremely confusing. I will briefly try and clarify it for you.

There are three definitions that you must become familiar with:

BASE FPP
A BASE FPP is awarded when:
Quote: $0.40 for fixed limit poker games with stakes $1/$2 and lower
$0.40 for NL/PL poker games with blinds $1/$2 and lower
$1.00 for all other games

Second FPP is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches:
$2.00 for all 6-max tables (this doesn't apply for games being played 6- handed at 10/9/8 player tables - just 6-max tables)

$3.00 for all other tables
Third FPP is awarded for playing a hand in which the rake reaches $5.00.

FPP
Thus, the amount of FPPs you earn is essentially determined by how many BASE FPPs you earn in the hand, multiplied by your VIP level.

The VIP multipliers are as follows:
SilverStar: 1.5x
GoldStar...

Q. Do extra FPPs that I earn in the VIP program count towards earning PokerStars deposit bonuses?

A. No, they don't.

Was I naieve thinking that I would actually clear the additional stacked bonuses 1.5x faster?

yes you were

Why do you think the days of bonuses are numbered? First off, I admit I don't play for bonuses but I've seen no evidence at all that bonuses are ending. As for Stars VIP program, if you are low stakes and grinding out bonuses then I don't see that this is really for you. Build your BR with bonuses as you improve your game.

Mid/High Stakes - yes
Small Stakes - stick to bonuses

Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone here plays at Pokerstars simply for the reward program they brought out. The reason i ask is that basically Pstars has been my favourite site overall to play on and the players there. However it seems the days of bonuses are numbered. Is it worth playing simply for the VIP program? anyone bother?

It's actually 3.5x for Supernova VIPs.

The only thing that disappoints me is that it takes the same number of VPPs to maintain a level as it does to gain that level in the first place.

So did I. For Christmas I bought myself a 21 inch flat panel LCD monitor.

It is so cool. I have it set so four tables fit perfectly on the screen. No more clicking on the one beneath to bring it to the top. I can see all four at one time (and they're not mini tables - so no confusing a club for a spade and thinking I have the nut flush when I have crap!) In the past two days, I've had my second and sixth best days ever!

Haven't seen this mentioned here yet, but PokerStars has added a ton of stuff, including WPT and WSOP buyins to what can be bought with FPPs.

If you go by the cost of buyins to the big online tourneys as a guide, the FPPs now have a cash value of just under $.02 each.

They've also arranged it so that those who play a tremendous amount will gather FPPs at a much faster rate than those who don't (up to 2.5x).

3 million FPPs will get you a new Porsche
