I 3 table Stud High at Paradise. Would do four tables but the software lately has only let me open three. Micro stud has NO ANTE and if you pick a table that rakes almost every hand you FOLD... FOLD... FOLD... FOLD...
RAISE with a PREMIUM HAND... FOLD... FOLD... FOLD...

well you get the idea. Funny thing is you can fold twenty hands in a row and re-raise and get 6 callers when the maniacs are out.

Due to the importance of dead cards in stud and stud8, and the fact that more stud players seem to know what they're doing, it's almost impossible to multitable, even at micro limits. which makes it a bad game to whore on.

...which is what makes omaha8 so sweeeeeeet.

there are a lot of split pots, but that't a good thing. split pots are what encourages the fish to keep playing, holding on to terrible hands for way too long, in the hopes of getting half the pot.

Also, the name of the game is SCOOP- that's where you really make money in limit omaha8- when you and your opponent both have A2 for example, but you have a set, too, and end up with 3/4 of the pot.

I really enjoy stud hi more than i do any other game right now, but because it's a bad whoring game and omaha is such a good one, what i usually do (when i'm not forced to plae LHE-ugh) is open three omaha tables and one stud table, and concentrate on the stud table and play omaha on autopilot.

Hey pilgrimshoes I got the 1st season of MacGyver on dvd two days ago. 22 episodes, all around 45-50 minutes long. You can't go wrong with that. 35 bucks I believe.

Qualify this statement by saying LIMIT omaha8 and I will agree.
Pot limit Omaha8 is very interesting.

That being said . . .
The 1-2 stud8 at pokerstars is the cat's ass.

depends on your limits.

low limit stud8 is different. the antes being 0.25 is pretty crucial in a .50/1 game. the reason that stud8 classically was a very beatable and very profitable game is because of the fact that so few people really understood the game that the games were fishy and loose as hell. Hence, tight agressive play being a very profitable venture. This kinda goes to shit when the ante is 1/2 the SB, as opposed to a $2 ante at a 10/20 game or someting. In order to break even with the higher ante, you are forced to open up you game quite a bit to keep up with the antes being taken.

It is a game i wish i knew how to play better, from what i understand its a veritable gold mine, and has been for years. although the only live B&M stud8 game ive ever seen was nothing but leathery old sharks. (15/30/30/45 hi/lo in AC) not a game id like to just venture into.

ive found that pl oh8 is really the only way to make good money in low limit arena. the oh8 tables on...

I have read em all. If I could only buy one book I would buy Ray Zee's 2+2 book:

High Low Split Poker, Seven-Card Stud and Omaha Eight-Or-Better for Advanced Players (Advance Player)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1880685108

That way when you get bored of playing Omaha/8 you have a book on Stud/8 which I believe to be a much more interesting game.

Sounds interesting. I've never ventured outside of hold'em. What's a good starter book?
The Bible.

Play pot limit omaha8.
Now, that's a game.

EDIT: I stole the Bible joke from this site: http://www.playwinningpoker.com/
it is also a good place to start learning to play Omaha.

This is all well and good, but keep in mind that there are LOTS of grinders out there doing the exact same thing.

80% raked is about right, but only in the evening. Right now at Party (2pm Pacific) the grinders are everywhere. It sucks. You will make no money. Omaha 8 goes from being extremely profitable at loose tables to extremely UNprofitable at tight tables. Kinda like Holdem, but much more so.

This game has lots of drawbacks. Not the least of which is the fact that you have to split many of your pots.

Learn Omaha! low limit omaha and omaha8 almost play themselves, and since they're pretty slow games by nature, you don't have to be playing a slow site. in addition, because of people's generally weaker understanding of the game there are A: lots of callers all the time- it's an easy game to nutpeddle at, and B: same reason, lots of raked pots. i've seen about 80% get raked at party.

Even if i'm playing a heads up match, i've usually got a couple of omaha windows going in the background. i've even tried 8 tabling it, but i just hate tileing my screens too much- it's as easy to 8 table omaha as it is to 4 table NL, IMO.

here's what i love about omaha:
Taking a break from painting my parent's house this summer, i was playing a little omaha on their computer. My sister stopped by on her way to her college and sat and watched for a while. she's a pretty good NLHE player, for somebody who's never studied the game. she sez:

"see... to me, this game looks like it'd be w...

Something fishy that only allows one table like Pacific of Sporting Bet?

I always found those to be a good accompaniment for the sites that only allow 3 tables open at a time (Paradise, Absolute). I got a 2nd 19" Dell FP to go with my 2001FP...but I still haven't figured out what I need to hook it up. Lazy whore I am. It's been sitting in a box for almost 2 weeks now.

What are good sites to multisite with Party? I was thinking of going to 6 or 7 tables, I usually do 4 or 5. Obviously a site where the software is slow. Absolute?

On a side note, I'll be finally utilizing my two 21" CRT monitors. No more overlapping. Nice.
