I think you give yourself to little credit. You CAN concentrate much better and play much better poker when playing only two tables. I was on a horrendous streak at crypto, so bad I actually stopped playing a few months there. Reread some books, got GT+, came back and stuck with two and ONLY two tables. I've been on a wonderful run since then, playing much better poker with much better results. We whores tend to get in the habit of multi-tables and think anything less is some sort of admission of a lack of skill. I think it's the other way around. We give up MUCH ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Osric - when I start on a downswing the first thing I do is reduce the number of tables I'm playing. If I'm truly on a streak of bad variance, it lessens my exposure, and lets me concentrate more on what I'm doing. Sometimes when I multitable - especially 4 tables - I feel like all I'm doing is clicking and that I don't have a feel for any of the games I'm playing.
This, too, shall pass - hang in there... | | Static Link |

Crypto's are notorious for slowing down a windows 98 machine. When I go above 2 tables it slows to a crawl. Scary when you have a monster hand and you can't switch back to the table. The good thing is Crypto is so slow that you usually have time even if you computer is older. One thing you can do is turn off every option. It hasn't helped me much but may work for you.
I play mostly £1-2 and I usually try to stay at 2 tables max. Even with PT I find I can think a lot clearer then when I add the 3rd table. My increased win rate more than makes up... | | Read Entire Entry |

Forum: Bonus Whores | | i used to play 5 tables at the cryptos that are times for the 25 pounds. then i realized that it was too stressful and went down to four. made a huge difference. i felt like i could think about plays and i felt like i knew my opponents better (i also use GT+). mulittabling is good but not if you overexert yourself. | | Static Link |

Forum: Bonus Whores | I know this has absolutely nothing to do with switching to two tables...I know it is only the law of averages kicking in, yet I can't seem to let go of the notion that I'm best off playing only two tables at a time.
While clearing the UKBetting bonus yesterday, I was up 11BB/100 before bonuses. I was at the pounds table, so that translates into about $150 plus the bonus...not a huge factor in the game of life, but my first solid positive day in a couple weeks. At one time, I was down about $100, so that was a $250 swing in about 2 hours...at times everything just seemed to go my way.
My favorite hand: I'm in the BB with 73s. UTG+2 raises and everyone else calls, so for the extra pound, I call. Flop: 773.
If I had been in a B&M place, there is no way in hell I could have kept a straight face.
I actually ended up splitting the pot when a second 3 hit on the river and someone else had a 7, but it still was 25 pounds to each of us, so I didn't complain too muc... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: FeelingLucky at April 12, 2005, 12:49 pm | | Topic: I'm back to two. Forum: Bonus Whores | Hell yeah - my old box can't handle more than max two Crypto tables at once. Sometimes even that gets messed up...
On any site other than Cryptos, the only performance that takes a hit from 3+ tables is my own. I alternate between 2 and 3 tables now, when doing Party skins. I of course wish I could handle 4 comfortably, but I only try it for short periods of time to practice so far.
I don't think moving down (either in limit or number of tables) has to be considered defeat or anything - do whatever you have to do to feel better about your game again.
