If you are at a 1/2 table and after 1000 hands you are $100 up the BB/100 would be +5 (100 dollars up divided by 10 (1000hands/100) divide by $2(big bet)
How do you calculate your BB/100 for NL. If the big blind is $1 and you are $100 up after 100 hands would it still be +5?

I feel like I'm at a 12 year old's birthday party, on a really bad acid trip, and the clown's got this really cockeyed grin and a bigass knife but I can't escape cuz the walls are melting and this one prepubescent white kid is jive talkin me and I get it but I don't want to get it and my head is going to explode.

I am a struggler at $1/2 limit poker.. basically I fluxuate between barely beating the rake, and losing to the rake. thus my BB/100 is poor for 1/2
however I am a big winner for NL play, .10/.25 (majority of my hands); .25/.5 and .5/1 blinds. My average BB/100 according to pokertracker is around 20-25.
my sample size is small (around 10k hands each level above); so these numbers are probably pointless anyway, but how can you compare that number with a limit player's BB/100? a simple matter of dividing by 4? (.25 big blind for NL versus $1 for limit)
that gives roughly 4-5 BB/100 if I could beat 1/2 limit as well as .10/.25 NL
I really need to re-read some of these aritcles I've seen about using PT to analyze my play, with whoring I havent found the time to really look over my #'s.

In limit poker, if you are winning 80-90 or more % of your showdowns, you are a huge vagina (or, to be helpful, folding hands that are likely to win you the pot). You probably could stand to play a little looser postflop. Folding on the river for one bet is probably eating into your BB/100 (also known as "winrate").
On the other hand, if you're only winning 30-40%, maybe you call down too much, and you reexamine how you play when you flop middle pairs, etc. Paying people off with top pair + no kicker is probably eating into your winrate.
Showdown win % is one barometer you can use to determine if you are playing too tight/loose postflop. However, you'll need a decent number of hands for this to make any sense (obviously if you're on fire, you'll win a lot of showdowns and rightfully so).

How would you use this differently than say, "showdown win %" which is also out of 100.

You know, like if two mechanics are talking cars to each other, then a lay man (non-car person) walks in on the conversation, they'll have to talk in "this makes car go zoom" mode.
BB/100 is the number of Big Bets you win per 100 hands played. Big Bets (not Big Blinds) are the bet limits for the turn and river. So, if you're playing $2/$4 limit Hold Em, the small blind is $1, the big blind is $2, and the Big Bet is $4, which is the bet increment on the turn and river.
BB/100 is a measure of how many of those bets you win per 100 hands. You want it to be a nice, big number.
At a brick-and-mortar standard casino, pros want to average one big bet per hour, which is about 3.5/100. If they're playing $20/$40, for example, 3.5/100 means they're winning $140 every 100 hands (about 30 hands per hour are played at a casino table, so it takes just over 3 hours to play 100 hands). $140 for 3 hours work is about $45 per hour, a nice salary.
