Seriously after a while of playing, I still don't understand why people get mad at bad players.
If not for bad players your not going to win much.
If he's going to go all in with 27, and wins he deserves it.
Say nice hand and wait around for an hour to win back your money.
Why do some many poker players want to make other poker players better?
Funny thing is I had the same thing on absolute, just got lucky on the river when the board paired.

Since I am semi retired (until June!) I have been checking out some sites and being a filthy voyeur! I was watching a table on Absolute last night and saw this happen...an all in with 27o against AA. Lets see how it played out shall we??
AA all in for $35
27o all in for $40 some
the flop of course comes 272 followed by a K and 3 I believe.
some words were exchanged as they normally do and needless to say I think AA threatened to find out where 27o lived and kill that person! Oh I just love friendly poker games.
Am I wrong to want to join in AA players crusade to smack the other person senseless?

I play alot of NL, so in my opinion, it's even worse to show there (with the different bet amounts/pot sizes). There may be quite a bit of table turnover, however, there are usually 3-4 people that are at the same table with me from beginning to end (of my session) and I am not going to give them ANY information to aid their play against me.

I then called the pyschic friends network only to find out that they dont exist anymore (serves me right for not calling them in 10 years)! I then watched Backdoor Sluts 7 and figured that into my equation so I my only play was to go all in with 23, 27 and to muck AA when reraised at anytime! I tried a different method on the $20 SnG and raised the bejesus outta AA and muck 23, 27 and it worked! I just need to work on finishing off my opponent in heads up action. There has got to be a porno out there somewhere that will give me a hint

When I first started I used to play tournaments more as they give you a large number of hours of play for very little risk, still giving you the potential for a big score.
As my poker skills have improved I find that I prefer spending time playing ring games where I can make $25 - $200 per evening without having to force myself to play some marathon 3-5 hour block where one wrong decision late in the tournament makes all my effort come up goose eggs for the Bankroll.
Ring games have greater flexibility when the wife or kids need me I can stop for a few hours and then jump right back into it later. In a tournament if someone wants something from me I am liable to bite their heads off and spit down their windpipes.
The bad thing about the aggressive style that can win you lots of $$$ at ring games is that in tournaments you hit the rail early way too often. I try to shift gears and work more trapping hands in tournaments where I have the nuts and get everyone... | | Read Entire Entry |

Even if I lose a few buy ins when I settle in the table starts to understand that I may go ALL-IN with anything. Later I find that my AA, KK, QQ, JJ get all the action one could possibly dream of.
HOF Whisked away to another table? This only works good in ring games, in tournaments you will be busted and out too quickly. In Ring Games you can rebuy to your hearts content. Assuming of course your Bankroll can handle it. | | Static Link |

I like your strategy there, don't know if I would be as extreme, but I like giving the table one perception of me early and then settling into my comfort level for a while, then repeat the whole thing 3-4 hours later. I love playing at Foxwoods. People seem to get so emotional there. Makes for lots of tilting (which in turn means profit).

Then I Buy-in for the maximum amount. By this time I have the entire table pissed off at me and wanting to beat me senseless and I go back into my shell and play solid poker. Not the best way to make friends at the poker table, but whenever you take all of another players chips you probably are not going to be best of friends.

A hand you can get away from easily unless you hit 2 pair, trips or full house. If it does hit me, I love showing this one down, especially when preflop raises aren't getting any action. I don't usually show cards though, just to show them (if I win uncontested); but that's just me.
A week ago, I raised 4x the BB UTG with this hand, got one caller in SB. Flop comes 255, He bets the pot, I raise him double, he calls. J on turn (bam!); he checks and I check (really screw with him). River is a T (no flush possibility); he bets half the pot, I all-in, he pauses then calls and calls me every name in the book when I bust his AA. Needless to say, my big hand raises got plenty of action the rest of the night.

A2 has paid off pretty big for me recently because of that low straight that just catches everone off guard. When the A hits only with no 2345 with it then I will bail. Anything A6-A9 is just asking for trouble and it has got me in lots! I will limp in with it but unless that 2 pair hits then I prepare for the bail! In EP I will play 66's on up pretty heavily! Why you might ask...well the answer is quite easy when the flop comes up rags with my low pocket pair and I hit trips isnt that gonna make you some extra money? In LP I will play all pocket pairs 2-J with a nice call, unless there is more than 2BB raised then I ditch the 2-5's. I think A2-5s is superior to A8s or A9s because of the str8 potential. In No Limit I will usually muck A2-9 suited or not in early position unless lots of hands are squeaking by for just the Big Blind. In which case I will limp in and be prepared to fold for any raise which is more than 1 BB.
If the flop does not absolutely hit me great I usually muck the hand. When the flop does spank me into the nuts 50% of the time I will trap and 50% of the time I will bet.
I like to go ALL-IN in late position in any pot that has not been re-raised with TT thru AA. In early position I like to do what Kfellmy does and hit it for 6-8x the BB. Occasionally I will limp with these hands usually with TT, JJ or QQ rarely with KK or AA.

I would be happy to cover all losses you have incurred with my bogus advice. I believe the correct response is "the checks in the mail".
But now for some actual poker strategy questions, I have 2.
1. What is the lowest pocket pair you will play in the early position?
For me I usually don't go lower than 9's
2. What is the lowest Ax suited and suited connectors you play anywhere not in the small/big blind?
For me I will play down to A8s early and middle, then add A2-5 suited in late, and down to 78s in late position.
I have found A6s and A7s are money drainers because of weak kicker and no straight potential. Any others have a feeling on this?
