I've just invested in a 11.5g 500 chip set and am organising a Poker School at my Golf Club just to get my toe into live play. Have 3 casinos within 30 miles where I want to have a crack at live play, but I am sure my £30 investment will pay off to get some pre-casino experience. | | Static Link |

Pretty happy about that overall. 25 places paid so I didn't get a piece of it. Overall the experience was well worth a shot and I made $50 at 2/4 O8 also.
Live play is definately much different from online... I didn't realize how many mistakes the dealers make. You have to really be sharp, at least the players seem 10 times worse than online, I think I'll have to go back. :-)
Tournaments are long. Levels were 50 minutes. I was eliminated about 8 hours in, just before dinner. The 1st seat eliminated at my starting table was then filled by Pat Poels took over the first seat eliminated at my stating table, he was wearing his bracelet for WSOP 2005 Omaha8. There were a few other players who have frequented final table in the past too, didn't ask all their names.
I had an average stack size going into level 6 (200/400) then went card dead and got moved to a very aggressive table. If I got a hand 4th neve... | | Read Entire Entry |

Thanks, hopefully I find the right balance quickly. Somehow I don't think $15 and $30 SnGs, $20 MTTs and 1/2 - 3/6 ring online will be comparable. Anyway, I do tend to be (overly?) aggressive with my good hands but I get have no problem getting away if things don't go my way, usually. :-)
Unfortunately the high part of the game is my weakness which may hurt late in the tourney if I get there. Tight, agressive and NO FREE CARDS will be the rule of the day. Thanks to IceNine for that last bit. ;-)

Good point, thanks. No idea what they will have running for stud8 before 10AM. I should have a couple hours to kill so maybe an hour or so of 3/6 stud8 or something.... | | Static Link |
