This would be an amazing fold if you could make it ... so so hard though .. the key is in your sentance:

maxcavsm wrote: , then when I raised, he re-raised. The alarm was on,

You did "know" he had AA ... you just couldn't trust your instincts ....i can fold Ako pre in this situation but not KK .. i guess you hit pro level when you can lay KK on a TTT flop when you "feel" you are beaten, im talkin NL here!

Its making these plays that separte the stars from the hoes!

P.s. i still suck like a damn hoe ... i get married and divorced daily

Flop comes 5Q5. Check check, turn 5, I bet 4$, get called. River 3. After some wait, I decide to go all in, looking like stealing the pot. I get called for 130$ to a 13-14$ pot with Q9off. Love it

The man was a calling station (fish, calling on everything until then, got from 40 to 200 with all kind of shitty hands, never raising, just calling). So figured out my best chance it was to look like a steal. Would any of you have done something different?

If he was calling everything, why not give him something that he would reasonably call? You want him calling, not folding. Though I guess in this case he "reasonably" called 65BB so more power to you.

I would have folded at the turn fearing that a river Queen would give him quad Queens. You got lucky!

At what point do you take your KK if someone who you think/know is a hard player is betting heavily and toss them?

the limp reraise from EP is right out of supersytem for aces and from a rock it screams big hand. in a cash game its not hard to get away from astrong hand albeit kings are the hardest. in a tournament, hes going to have to show me them with that board

2/4 NL

UTG limps MP2 min raises to $8, I'm in BB with Aces. I raise to $28 I believe. He calls. flop 2/3/4. I bet and get called on the flop. Turn 9 same. River 8 I bet he pushes his last whatever and I call. Mr Min Raise flipped over 3/4s. I then quit and watched oprah.

Suppose thats why Doyle loves them low suited connectors....

I guess it was a bad EV call pre-flop, but afterwards it was deceptive hand calling station time.

Elric,
The Doyle Brunson? I actually laughed when I read that. Forgot about that hand, but had one earlier in this week that made me think of unlikely pocket hands that crush my pocket hands.

AA preflop early, go in heavy. Two late callers actually come in. Flop goes 7, 8, 9 of rags, so I THINK I'm good. Unlikely someone would come rolling in with a $5 bet preflop with J10s, right? So I bet, one folds, the other bets.

Next drops an A, so I think I'm good, even if they guy has a set of 9s. I go all in. He chases, and I think I'm good for a quick $50.

Unbelievable, but the idiot has 65o. That's right. 6-5 OFFSUIT. I was so livid that I stood up, left the table, and went running to get the fury out of my system. OOf, I was mad.

Thanks again guys.Good to vent here.

For some reason this thread reminds me of the funniest hand I ever played, which I now feel compelled to share.

I'm playing in a limit holdem game. I have AA in the big blind. Guy under the gun raises preflop. One other caller, and I just call.

Flop is A88. I check, all check.

Turn is a rag. I think "He'll bet now". I check, all check.

River is a king. I think "He's got to bet now". I check, he bets. Other guy folds. I check-raise. He 3-bets. I cap it.

Of course I flopped As full of 8s. What did he flop? Quad 8s. oops!

I was happy it didn't cost me more though.

Gents,
Good intel and thanks.
Grinder,
Took a look at your blog there. Interesting idea, and definately something I might look into doing myself as I work on getting into month 4 here myself. Good read!

Limit - call it down unless an Ace flops. You should never put a guy on AA. you can put him on A? but putting a guy on AA is a pretty tight call.

A lot of weak rocks will limp in. remember - a rock is not a good player, he is just a player that you can not get money out of because he never puts any in.

Seeing a rock limp in would put up a red flag. STILL, ou can't put him on AA.

Limit, at least call it down with KK at that point. No limit, if he's aggressive on a TTT flop and you know he's a rock, then you're in trouble (especially after a limp-reraise, which shows strength and shouldn't be very confusing)
