Based on your feelings of frustration you expressed, my advice would be brutally simple. Stop playing. Take a few days off, a week if need be. First couple of days do NOTHING with poker at all - don't read about it, don't watch any poker on TV - avoid it like the plague, give your mind a rest. Then pick up your favorite book or two, jump onto the 2+2 forums, and get your game re-centered - get the feel for handling standard situations correctly, and then step back in - at a lower limit. Play the NL100 for a day or two, MAYBE the NL200 - just for a couple of days to work on restoring your confidence and aggression. Then when things are going well, step up ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Forum: Bonus Whores | i just posted the exact same thread in the off topic forum, never really checked this forum, so didn't realize that others were going or have gone through a downswing like i have. it's gotten to the point where i expect the opponents two or three outers to hit on the river.
i play four tables of NL400 and sometimes NL200. in todays session, I lost three pocket aces in a very short period all in preflop. I double checked my pokertracker to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Last four hands of AA, (-384.65), (-420.00), 9.15, (315.55). in the three losses, two I was up against KK all in preflop, one I was all in after flop against QQ with Q on river.
Those are three $700 - $800 pots where I was a massive favorite to clean up, only i lost ALL THREE. it seems like it's been this way since last november.
i dont really tilt where i start throwing money around, i think i tilt by playing much weaker. it happens cuz i'm always expecting my opponent to hit their miracle ... | | Read Entire Entry |

I seem to have pulled myself out of it now, but there is nothing in the world like losing to 2, 3, and 5 outers, or just having the second best hand (KK v. AA) so many times in succession.
It really makes you (me) doubt your (my) ability, which is the worst thing that can happen to you (me.)

I lost to more runner-runner straights in those 18 days than I had to that point in my entire poker playing career. (I lost count when it exceeded 100... and I'm not exaggerating.) Very, VERY brutal.

I had played almost 7k hands with 13 AA's... low count onbig pair in general.
very few sets...
and all of a sudden I'm all-in on 3 tables at once with sets and one AA preflop..

10,000 hand cold streaks are more common, happening about 12% of the times you play 10,000 hands if your win rate is +2BB/100.
A 6,000 hand cold streak happens 18% of the times you play that many hands as a +2BB/100 player.
All of these values assume average volatility. If you play a loose aggressive game, these streaks will be more common. If your win rate is less than +2BB/100 the streaks will also be more common.
