Forum: Bonus Whores | This reminds me of the time I was on pokerstars and had a friend point out that there was a $.01/$.02 NL Table that had a pot average of 35 bucks I had to check this out. There were no waits at any of the other tables, but this table had like 9 people on the waiting list, so I got on. When scoping out the table I noticed that one guy had over $200 and 3 others had over $100. Which is insane because it is a max buy in of $5!!!!!!
I noticed right away that they were going all in preflop almost every single hand. Once I sat down I was gonna wait for some good hands and burn these jackasses. First hand I got was AK and I went all in with my 5 dollar buy in and quadrupled up when I hit a flush. A few hands later I got KK and doubled up again. By this time the craziness was dying down so I left. But I'll never forget the time I made 40 bucks in 2 hands playing 1cent/2cent max buy in of $5. Play with the crazies as much as you can!

Why didn't I leave?
1) Every hand was getting raked (this is at a Martin's short handed table).
2) The table had BIG $$$ getting thrown around, and it's hard NOT to want to take a piece of the pie.
So I play like a rock encased in rock. I play 1-3 hands an hour, just watching in amazement as killer hands like QUEEN HIGH take 130 Euro. I literally try to outlast the shelling, but have a pocket pair of A broken by 75s (two pair on the flop) and so on and so forth.
At what point, after having your stack taken from you several times by hands like that do you say leave the donk playing Russian Roulette poker? I mean, the idea is to take money away from the table, but at what point is a crazy maniac TOO crazy? And when do you walk away? Do you play against these guys? Forum: Bonus Whores | Last night, same issue, although I really ratcheted down after the table maniac took me for a buy in. Four hours later of patience, I was able to take it all back with AQs and a full flush on the drop. It was a thing of beauty, and it makes me remember why I play in the first place...oh, and the money.
And you are definately right about raked hands, Whoo. That's one of the main reasons I play at tables where the average 1/2 NL pot is 20-50E. Every time there's a flop, there's a raked hand, and for the 3000 raked for Martin's, I'd like to get through it as quickly as possible.

Forum: Bonus Whores | Skalansky advises that essentially you just need to wait for TT up for pcoket pairs and AJs up for suited Aces/or connectors before you drop the hammer on them.
Personally I love maniacs because A)they make it easier for me to play my premium hands for value B)Since almost every pot is raked si bonuses and rakeback clear even faster C)They change the dynamics of everyone at the table and make my life even easier. | | Static Link |

Online my computer will become broken stuff before I lose 10 buyins in a session by an unexplainable force that causes it to fly across the room and explode against the wall. Sort of a built in stop loss mechanism.

Never thought about playing his own game, as again, I am a bonus whore by trade and am more interested in playing tight tight tight. But to actually see my Poker Tracker symbol turn from a rock to a teddy bear (tight aggro to tight passive) was troubling.

Forum: Bonus Whores | While there might be debates about how best to play in a crazy game, I think you have to be willing to play in games like the one you described. Sure it is frustrating when you get stacked by rotten hands flopping lucky or someone calling all-in only to hit their two-outer. But the profit potential is overwhelming even if the risk is higher too. I agree with elric - play that game until you go bust or fall asleep.

Against a lunatic I like pocket pairs and suited high connectors. Against a complete maniac any two cards are fine as I believe I can outplay them post flop.
