I didn't say the games at the Bellagio weren't good. THey are. I look at it this way...if you can't afford a couple of rebuys at that game then maybe you're at the wrong game. If I get to $150 I rebuy back to $200

Yeah like I was saying, It seems like it would make for a loose game.

But I've been at 1/2 games with $300 buyins that were much the same way.. They suck too.

Wow $200 max for a 2/5... That's crazy. That's the minimum for everywhere I've ever been.. Does it make for a looser game? It seems to me like it would..

That seems awfully low to me too.

I never really considered playing 2/5 before, but for a $200 max buy-in, why the hell not?

Why not is easy: it's almost all a preflop game and takes away the advantage you have over weaker players. Say you raise 4x preflop and get a reraise -- to make his reraise he has to bet $60 or so...now post flop there's already $120 in the pot, and you have $140 in front of you...not much room to play. Basically at this point a continuation bet makes you pot committed.

Take this example of why that sucks: A guy has been preflop raising WAY too much. ...

Just asking because I've only been to AC, and there the 1/2 max buyin at most places is usually $300.

My advice is much like the others.. Play your game, but make larger preflop raises. and make them dependant upon your table.. If after a few orbits you see that everyone is still calling 12 and 15 dollar preflop raises... Bump it up to 20-25when you get those aces. You'll probably still get the same callers to crack them.

I got on a list for a 1/2 blinds NL game, and was sitting in a limit game with a rack of white waiting to get in. I lost $3 and wen tto a new game starting and they made me buy the $3 extra to start the game. So Id assume the minimum.

LOL

I get tired of bad beat stories just like everyone else, but the other night I ended up all in PF with AA vs. 2 callers and ended up in 3d place... to a set and a flush.

This was were everyone said to play. And they were right. There was a good enough mix of rocks (easy to spot) and donkeys. I really liked this game and would definately recommend trying it out.

Thanks CHE. I knew one of the vets could probably help me with this question.

Do these games play generally like online NL cash games (std raise 3-5X the BB) or are they super-tight or super maniac?

the games at MGM, Mirage and Ceasars were also pretty good at 1/2 and 2/5 NL. I know the Venetian just opened a new room that is huge, so its a good chance there will be some loose games there as well.

I liked the 1-2 game at ballys. Very weak competition. Expect preflop raises in the 5x to 10x range. If you raise to $6 at a 1-2 table people are going to look at you funny. For the most part people use white chips only for the blinds, then reds for all the bets...meaning everything is multiples of $5, even at $1-$2. Preflop raises at your table will tend to be $10, $15, or even $20. And yes, this gives you very little room to play post flop.

i played out in AC a couple of times.... the $2 / $5 games play easier than $1 / $2 online games... people were calling $40 PF raises with K7o (and of course flopping the nuts).... you have to adjust your play becase PF play is just awful... post flop play isn't bad...

at $5 / $10, i was comforatble... the games were pretty comprable to $2 / $4 NL on stars (very very tight PF, weak passive post flop play, of course with 4 solid players per table)

depends on how you're comfortable playing... also, vegas could be very different from AC

Several Strip poker rooms have 1/2 blind NL games, usually with a max buy-in of $200.

Do they play like the NL games (50/100NL) at Party or are they wild and crazy?

I'd appreciate any advice from players who have played in these games to help me know something about what to expect.

The Nugget had some crazy shit when we were there.
