This software helps you for a brief moment if youre too high to do simple math. There's only 52 cards... then you memorize the odds and realize that you can still lose when you're statistically in the lead, and vice versa.
So yah, anyone seen one of these pot odds calculators for Omaha?
I know the ins and outs of omaha pretty well and I dont think this would be even remotely possible to get accurate odds. Lets look at the following scenarious.
You are getting 2-1 with a wrap draw so you crunch the numbers because you feel your opponent has top 2 min. Actually openent has top set as well as the top 2 cards to your same wrap. Now 8 of our outs are for a chop and you are in horrible shape.
Scenario 2) Flush draws to the non nuts may have a good price and a odds calcuatlor may tell you to call. However if your against... | | Read Entire Entry |

Forum: Bonus Whores | Yah using Calculatem made me second guess for awhile I think it's because you tend to focus on the pot odds calculator instead of the actual poker game being played. It's very conceivable to have a K high flush which is pretty much a winner to the pot odds calculator and lose to a an A high flush. The problem I encountered was that by actually seeing the math, for example, the odds of a full house beating a flush, normally leaves the person with the weaker hand a higher percentage of winning overall due to the mathematical fact that its harder to get a full house as opposed to a flush. This can get very misleading when you have a 20 second window to call a bet and you have a feeling you shouldn't call a bet but the damn pot odds calculator is telling you by all means you should call because over a billion hands you will be +EV.
Basically it distracts the player from paying attention to the few nuances of online poker that one player can use to make reads, since its not live you cant see any phys... | | Read Entire Entry |

not sure what you are saying by that comment. I hope your not saying that knowing the odds is going to make you a winning player.
I think it is because the poster says he plays fairly high stakes FL (said so in another thread(5/10 or 10/20? - can't remember)), and presuming he is winning at that level, then the cards you actually hold, and then flop etc., have very different values if you can't be moved off it by adjusting the calling odds.

it instantly calculates ur odds to hit any type of hand from 2pr to royal flush and it also calculates ur chancesof winning the hand given the board and # of opponents.. it also makes math easy if u know what implied odds are (if not id read up on them).
finally, it shows you what % chance your opponents have of hitting a given hand.
I don't like any software that makes it easier for lousy players to have a chance. That's just my personal bias.
That said it might help a little. Doing the math for you is nice but not that necessary if you know how to play. I am terrible at calculating my implied odds when under the pressure to call or bet. But there aren't that many situations where it would make a big diff... | | Read Entire Entry |

You miss my point (though I am a bit of a grammar nazi).
I have a bias against these types of programs being one of the old-fashioned types that think it is a game of person vs. other people. My comment was trying to point out how pervasive laziness can be. For instance, people want a program to tell them how to play cards because they are either too fucking lazy or stupid to learn how to play. Same with grammar in a lot of cases.
