Villian 2 dowsn't matter he will push with anything and has no money. Is villian one going to lead with a 5? He has less than a full stack so most of the time he sucks and will slowplay until there is a 4 straight and flush on the board and minraise. I'm allin and hope nobody has a bigger pair in an unraised pot. If you are shortstacked you push with tp,overpairs and anything better. | | Static Link |

Seriously thats not so far from the truth especially at those stakes. Fold and save yourself some money.
Strategy at those stakes is dependant on the other players actually having
a clue on how to play the game.
Very true at this site...
My main concern was the Villain 2 behind me who had my stack covered.
Without that I would have called.
I guess the concensus from above is to fold?
Many thanks for your responses.
So, anyway, here is the rest of the hand...

yuebin folds
Pirlo22 folds

You catch 77 in middle possition and have two limpers. You might make $1.75 (12% profit) just by trying to steal the blinds. Sometimes even pushing could work out ok since some players will call you down with less than premium hands.
You might just limp and look for the set, though you will have a hard decision to make if someone raises later on. (preflop)
I think a $3 raise or a limp would be my two choices. I would not consider a fold. I would not push. You will not get called by a worse hand, you will get called by bigger pockets and the best aces. $3 should weed out the weak and leave you heads-up or 3-way at worst.
I'd not be shocked to have the ultra-short stack push with awful cards - one of the best reasons to be aggresive preflop is to try and isolate against someone who wants to play for stacks and go home.
You end up six handed after... | | Read Entire Entry |

A good example from last night. I raise 10xbb with AK ( trying to get some respect), get one caller, flop is AK rag, rainbow. I make a pot sized bet, get called, turn makes 2 of a suit, my turn bet is even harder trying to get this guy to lay down. He calls, river makes 3 of a suit. I lose to K4 suited.
Strategy at those stakes is dependant on the other players actually having
a clue on how to play the game.

You might have the best hand on the flop but u stand little chance of improving. I would probably fold. Whatever u do don’t call or go all in. If you call the next guy will surly call and one of the two will probably outdraw you. If you go all in the first guy will only call you only with a better hand. With a bet and raise in front of you should usually fold here but since the raise was by a shortstack you could min raise to get heads up, but the other guy might have u dominated. A min raise should get the first guy to fold a draw/low pair and get you heads up vs short stack, or let you know your way behind and should save you last $6. People don’t usually bluff for small side pots when they know they will have to show their hands. So another raise or bet from the first better should be respected. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: jack.duck at December 4, 2006, 2:02 pm | | Topic: NL50 Hand - What to do? Forum: Bonus Whores | playing short stacked, IMO u should be thinking steal blinds, and push hard with big hands. now 77 isnt that great of a hand, but u have good position here so first i would think u should have tried a raise pf. u probably would have gotten one of them out of the pot if not both. if u got the call, try the continuation bet on the flop if it is checked to you, say about 75% of the pot. if he leads out on the flop or check raises your c-bet u fold.
but since this isnt what happened, i think you are beat here. what do u beat pair of 2s 33 44 66. two of them in the pot, one of them can probably beat that.
i dont play shorstacked ever, so i dont really think i could give a good bluff option strategy here. plus i think one of them has got a 5.

I am playing very tight with a short-stack strategy to try and keep the variance down as I am only just learning NL, normally I play limit.
I will post a series of hands where decisions were difficult for me, or that went a bit wrong
Any comments and advice is greatly appreciated...
