| Posted by: daraider at June 13, 2007, 4:18 pm | | Topic: omaha 8 hand Forum: Bonus Whores | I wasn't really sure why they were giving me hell. Especially the guy that 3/4 me after the suckout.
There basic argument to why i played it bad was I raised the low in a 3 way pot where I was probably only getting a quater. But my line of thought was the opposite, if I raise I might get lucky and pick up 3/4 or even the whole pot if an ace or 2 comes.
Thats why I posted it, I was curious if anyone thought I played it badly. | | Static Link |

I think I raise again on the flop. Thinking of chasing out the high hands and not worrying about the low. You do have TPTK on the flop which admittedly isn't good but could be good enough.
You got heads up on the turn which I think is a good outcome.
Checking the river down isn't so bad.
All in all, well played. Villain just sucked out with his queen for the high. (In fact, if anyone misplayed the river it was your opponent)
Why were they giving you Hell? Is raising an ABC hand pre-flop too loose?
If a deuce came on the river I guess they would have thought you a genius.

| Posted by: daraider at June 11, 2007, 4:48 pm | | Topic: omaha 8 hand Forum: Bonus Whores | It was a 4 not a K, Typo
The point of it was that I raised a weak high, with unbeatable low and draw for a weak flush.
Personally I liked my raise on the flop because I expected the blinds to call in this situation (shocked they didn't). I have position and if they check around to me (which happens a lot with people check raising). If i don't catch a low draw I can see the turn for free and still have the odds to call for low draw if I get one on the turn.
Raising the flop was the opposite, I wouldn't do that cause I wanted to keep everyone in. There is no way your getting an A2 to fold, and I don't want a weaker low not to chase.
The turn was where I wasn't sure. Basically I was hoping the guy betting into me had an overpair, or 2 pair, maybe even a weak straight and would fold giving me the chance to scoop. I was pretty sure the other person had A2 because he called pretty quick and checked the river too.
I can see why the river check behind was a bit ... | | Read Entire Entry |

I have position and best low draw. A raise on the flop may chase out another low draw if he has to call 2 cold into a small pot.
If i hit on turn I bet if not I take the free card.
I'm not sure how i'd play the river but prob check unless I get lucky and hit backdoor flush.
thoughts? FLAME AWAY
I also noticed your K on the flop changed to a 10 or 4 on the turn.you should think about calling the floor over when that happens | | Static Link |

For that reason along with no suited ace/high hand potential, i'm more likely to limp this button but i dont know if that's the right play... | | Static Link |

I don't like the button raise preflop because Hero's hand has little chance to make a high. I think it is good to keep the field big while saving a small bet until you see the flop.
I think the flop action is fine.
The turn presents an interesting choice. If you only call, it will often allow the third guy to play a weak hand. If you raise, perhaps you will fold a better, but weaker high. If you had two pair or even a stronger one pair, the raise is much clearer. I think I would raise here, but I am not sure that it is the +Ev thing to do. (And we haven't begun talking about Villain reads - those would strongly influence the play.)
I do not like the check behind on the river, unless you had a villian read. There aren't that many hand that quarter you and win high but there are lots of hands where a weak high / busted draw might fold to one more bet. (I really don't like villian's river check. He caught a goo... | | Read Entire Entry |
| Posted by: daraider at June 10, 2007, 11:43 pm | | Topic: omaha 8 hand Forum: Bonus Whores | I playing this hand at 10/20 and this guy got really worked up about my terrible raise (even though he 3/4'd me).
I had no strong reads, but players seemed to be giving me too much respect.
I had A23c8c
first seat calls,
middle position calls,
one off button calls,
myself on the button raises
Blinds fold, rest call.
pot=95
flop 7 8 4c
Checked to one off button who bets
I call, first position folds, middle position calls.
Turn 8 10 4c 7c
Check to one off button again who bets
I deciede to raise.
middle calls
one off button folds
pot=195
river 8 10 4c 7c Q
We checked it down
split for the low and he got the high with a pair of Qs on the river.
A number of people joined him saying how bad i played it, i didn't defend myself.
So im curious who thinks i played it good/bad and who would of played it different and why? | | Static Link |
