So, I'm trying to come up with some opening standards. Right now, I'm opening with aces, or jacks-up or better in the first 4 spots, and kings with an ace or better on the button. And I'm calling a bet with aces, or queens up.

After the draw, I'm betting any 3 of a kind or better, or aces up in the last two spots. But, I think I may be playing too liberally. Ideas?
Prima?
It's horrible there, everybody just sit there the whole day and wait to get 4-of-a-kind against a donkeys full house and win like 5BB.

Errors after the draw are going to be more crititical that starting hand errors (though the two are coupled).

With the min raise after the draw being 8x the pot, I can't see much edge to raising with anything less than a made hand after the draw. I think your whole night is going to be made on one, perhaps two hands where someone gets stupid after the draw and you slaughter him.

Oh - and possition is even more critical that normal in 5-draw. There will be a lot of opportunity to exploit errors by people OOP. It is going to be very hard for someone on a 3-card draw to play vs a 2-draw or 1-draw + possition.

If your tighter than they are, then your not playing too liberally cause you will have the best hand most of the time with the smallest risk.

What is the max bet?

I agree that this game should be quite tight (except that many times people get to draw for free.) Minimum bets of 4x pot and 8x pot should lead to very little action with a great hand.

That game should be tight as a frog's ass. Sounds like you are playing about right.

I've been playing a draw poker game with an extremely low ante. The minimum opening bet before the draw is 4 times the size of all the antes in the pot. It's 5 handed, and you can check.
