No both hole cards were not in play. BTW, for those of you who do not know it takes 4 of a kind J's or better to win/lose the bad beat jackpot on Crypto.

Did he spike another one?
Yeah, on the turn. Based on the preflop action, I was thinking that there was a good chance I was beaten, with only AK/AQ/JJ giving me a shot. It was really a shitty way to go.
I also had a hand where I limped, looking to possibly limp-reraise with AKs. The flop was a beautiful A55 rainbow. The turn Q severely reduced the number of hands I beat that wouldn't shut down. Needless to say, I lost to queens full, and wasn't able to get off it.
Crypto's kind of fucked up my NL game in that the edges are typically so big, that sometimes I forget to play really good poker (if that makes sense).

Agreed.
I did have a $.50/1 NL hand yesterday where I had AK, a lot of money went in preflop, and the flop was AKx. A significant amount of money went in on the flop, and I lost to QQ. No conspiracy theories here, though. I didn't see all the longshots that missed when I was on a $3000 upswing at IP, so I can't gripe about a downswing... just have to keep playing (hopefully) well.

| Posted by: CHRISTOPHER at October 9, 2004, 12:53 pm | | Topic: Crypto Bad Beats Forum: Bonus Whores | It seems to me that Holdem is basically designed to invite bad beats.
I'm always surprised when I hear experienced players complaining about their aces, or whatever, being cracked. Duh, of course they were. Nothing holds up in Holdem. I hate Holdem. I will never understand how people win at this game.
At least with Omaha Hi lo the suckouts are of a different nature. You play for nut hands. There's a whole lot more certainty. If the board pairs on the river and there's still 4 people in the hand, oh well, your ace high flush is probably dead. But at least you KNOW that it's probably dead. It's not like with Holdem where you play A-K, flop A-6-K, take it to the river, and find out that the guy behind you was smooth calling your bets with pocket 6's the whole time.
I would so not play poker if there wasn't free bonus money involved. | | Static Link |

I know one of them was when I flopped the wheel and the board paired on the river (not so bad). The other was when I flopped a straight flush and lost to a higher straight flush my first night there (that was fucking terrible!!). Other than that I really haven't seen anything that would constitute conspiracy theories.

| Posted by: deezamn at August 23, 2004, 1:45 pm | | Topic: Crypto Bad Beats Forum: Bonus Whores | | I'm starting to think the worst beat possible is when the board pairs and is higher than yours. Had A 5 suited (clubs) on the BB and called. Flop was A 5 2, all diamonds. I'm betting and raising, hoping to push out anyone looking for a flush. Turn is a 6c, river is a 6s. So my pair of 5's was negated, and someone holding A Q beat me with his queen kicker to my lousy 5. Pot was $79...right there I should have known it wasn't going to be a profitable weekend. | Posted by: Osric at August 23, 2004, 9:50 am | | Topic: Crypto Bad Beats Forum: Bonus Whores | Not to criticize play or anything, but if you lost your entire stake at 1/2 before clearing the bonus, then it sounds to me like you are in WAY too many pots.
Just got a nice little suck out from Eurobet. Dealt JJ and get the set on the flop with 2 spades. Lots of betting and raising, turn another spade lots of betting, river another spade (did I mention my Jacks were both red?).
Lost a 66 buck pot to A high flush...guy had AA, so I couldn't bitch too much. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: Grinder at August 22, 2004, 8:15 pm | | Topic: Crypto Bad Beats Forum: Bonus Whores | Actually I've had a GREAT run of cards there the past 2 weeks - up 200 BBs in 1000 hands!!!
Sorry to hear about your bad run - it happens! Look at it this way - you had HIDIOUS cards and broke even. That's not a bad thing. | | Static Link |

Have played many poker rooms but this is just ridivculous.
Many big pocket pairs in the same hand, AA KK and JJ in the same hand many times.
Can't win with anything.
Lost my whole $100 bonus at Classic before I cleared it at 1/2 game. | | Static Link |
