Since leaving Pacific I've played a little over 4000 hands each at both the crypto and party skins and have almost exactly opposite results. -3.65bb/100 on crypto and +3.74 at Party. Luckily I play 2/4 at party and 1/2 at crypto so I had a pretty good net result for both. I think that 4000 hands is still too small of a sample and I'm hoping that my crypto results are just variance and that my true bb/100 is probably +2.0bb. Comparing the data from both sites does show that crypto has a smaller VPIP by about 2.5% so they may be a little tougher there. (I'm more confident about this number as it has about 40k hands at crypto and 67k hands at party) I also play during the daytime (U.S.) so I may not be playing with quite as many maniacs at either site. Anyway, just wanted to show that even after 4000 hands you can get very different results. I'm sure those of you more experienced already know that. | | Static Link |

In fact during a particularly bad run at Party, I almost considered quitting poker for good. I then moved to Poker Stars and I found I was able to make money there and also at Ultimate Bet. I second the problems at Paradise and Pacific Poker, the low stakes NL tables at those sites are infested with crazys and calling stations. I lost my entire bonus at Paradise and most of it at Pacific Poker. I currently play at Absolute Poker most of the time because of the frequent bonuses. I am having somewhat of a love/hate relationship there as the tables are extremely tight and there are too many calling stations for my liking. Still I find with patience and peristance I am able to clear the bonuses which is why I continue to play there. Once the bonuses dry up, I am out of there... | | Static Link |

The style of play that works best for me is very different on the party and crypto networks. On party people will call down bets w/ absolutely nothing, leaving me confused as to what they might be holding and so on. On crypto I find it much easier to read the players. If someone calls a pot sized bet on the flop at crypto I can usually narrow down their possible holdings to a small number of possible hands. At party poker, they can call down two pot sized bets on the flop and turn, then on the river they flip over something I never though I would see in a million years! To me, that is the greatest difficulty switching to party after an extended absence. I've gotten used to it after a few days though and am doing quite well again. Definitely had to make some adjustments though to get everything rolling smoothly. I actually forgot how crazy the Party netw... | | Read Entire Entry |

I have been cleaning house on the prima network, but have lost quite a bit over my last 1500 hands at party. And its not that party has good players or anything, but I can't seem to win a hand. Yesterday I raised with AQ and was called by Q8 - he flopped 2 pair and I ended up broke. I've lost to 2 sets, and countless river flushes. Frusterating, yes, but the glory of whoring is that I still cash out more than I deposited even if I am running really bad.
Thanks but I really don't think this is an "agree or disagree" issue.
From time to time a whore needs to vent.
That's all it was.

Thanks for taking up for me, JP. You're not a bad player yourself. ;)
This is my first really bad run since I started playing NL, so it stings a little more than most.
The more I go on playing, the more I realize that one of the keys to poker is being unemotional about the money involved. I am making efforts to become closer to this ideal, but sometimes I still do get pissed.

Haven't played a lot at Crypto lately, due to several factors, a couple of which I would rather not discuss. Perhaps when these Party and skin bonuses dry up I'll be back there.
And thanks for the good wishes. I had a good session this morning, +120 in about 500 hands, so it seems variance is becoming by friend again.

1) learn what variance is
2) get a bigger sample size
3) get better at poker
You know, there are many good tasting brands of decaf on the market these days.

Maybe this will work for you to.
Probably but I have two bonuses to work off at Empire, so I will just have to wait for the evil mistress of variance to turn my way.

I finished a $100 reload last week down a net of $70. With about 150 hands to go on my Empire $150 bonus, I am down $120.
The crazy maniacs and calling stations, even at the NL tables are just driving me crazy! It is the 7th and I am at a net -$20 for the month so far!
Variance can be a cruel bitch sometimes.
