Finally did it myself this morning. I try and make it a monthly activity after I trashed my hard drive last year. It only takes a few minutes and saves a lot of agony. PT took me a total of 3 minutes to copy to another hard drive. Even to a DVD or CD doesn't take much longer.

My suggestion is to write it off to experience and start again. My advise to everyone here who does use PT is to backup you files to another hard driver, CD or DVD which I will now do myself. I would be kicking myself in the ass if I lost 25k of hands. And for those of you who have 50k or 100k you may end up shooting yourself. Hard drives do crash and while you can get the information back be prepared to pay hundreds of dollars to have someone do it for you.

Absolute Poker are also good when it comes to sending old hands.

Just ask them nicely and they will send them.

Only problem is that they are not in the same format as their normal HH so you will have to "massage" them a bit before you can load them into PT.

I recommend emailing all the sites asking them for whatever HH they can get you.And def focus on the next sessions ahead;I've had PT installed on a new comp and don't have everything here either but oh well.

Poker Stars will send you histories of all your hands ever played there on request. Other sites will only send you your last 200 or so.

Use a good undelete program - search download.com.

When you "formatted" your hard drive, chances are, you didn't do what you thought you did. Most software packages, during a "format", simply overwrite your file allocation tables - the "table of contents" of your hard drive, if you will.

Depending on how much your disk has been written on and where the hand histories were stored, the hand histories may be intact. Most run-of-the-mill undelete programs will find files lying there from a format if you really need them.

It's worth a shot.

With all seriousness, I don't see how anybody could really help you - if your system crashed and required a reformat, and you didn't have backups, there really isn't any "magic" that you can perform to recover all those hand histories.

You could try to email the different support teams at each poker site and see what they could make available to you, but with the exception of PokerStars (who seem relatively accomodating); you will probably not get any help from any of them, so you may really need to just focus from this point forwards.

Be nice, he has come to BW and posted in the wrong forum looking for help. We should welcome him with open arms. Although I don't think it's possible to recover his hands after reformatting perhaps we can all send him hand history to help out? At the very least he needs a hug.

I just got Poker Tracker, but i made a huge mistake. I have no hands to track because most of my poker software (with the poker hands) have been uninstalled/deleted due to my format a few months ago......

What can I do? Any way I can get those 20-40k of hand history back?
