I suggest you try dynamite poker.
They have the best tournaments in my opinion. And the best customers support.
You can also have your money ia paypal within a couple of ours of the withdrawal, and no hassle so that you have to keep you rmoney in for 48 hours like in most poker sites before a withdrawal is permitted.
They also offer exclusive 1 on 1 tournaments that no other site offers. Tournaments not just 1 on 1 tables.

No problems with withdrawal ia check for me. However, if you are playing small buy in tournaments you will be forced to pay an excessive rake (20%) instead of the more standard 10% in entry fee.
For low buy in tournaments, the ery BEST site is Ultimate Bet. Absolute Poker actually bought them, and you can actually tranfer funds between the two sites ($50 min.), but Ultimatebet has sit-n-go tournaments as low as $0.50 + $0.05 (both single and multitable SNGs). At Absolute Poker, and FT you have to pay 20%+ (ex. $1 + $0.25 for 90 player deepstack sng on FT), an unacceptable (and unbeatable?) amount of ig to fade.

I think ChuckT is right on target here. I recently read (I think in Poker Pro) that Fischman usually plays fairly loose and aggressive with about a quarter of his stack early in these tournaments. Then, if that doesn't go so well, he will tighten up some and look for his opportunities with better hands. Of course, I am sure he can mix that up at times also.
The point is, deepstacked $10,000 buyin tournaments are ery different than online $33 tournaments...the chips and blinds being a major difference.

Hello,
I am setting up my own poker related website which will look at things that interest me, like book reviews, a comical section (which will most likely link to Brutuses famous thread ).
I am also going to start a-bit of a poker league where people can play tournaments to earn points ect.
To earn points you will win freeroll tournaments which I setup.
So, basically, I am after some prize suggestions for the winner of these tournaments, obviously not too expensive, like a poker book or something, I want some ideas of types of prizes for the tournament winner....
(Some tournaments will just have a prize pool of about $15, but I want some to be more interesting)
They wont be huge freerolls like within the hundreds, probably about 20 people max.
Anyway, I need your ideas..

Nope, I didn't double!
An impossible card to beat like the ACE shows up a lot of the time whenever I double with $25 bets, so I haven't had much luck with it!
I used to try it a lot with the Sunny Group VP tournaments when I got behind but I don't think I ever managed to double more than once unless my bet was $5! I did win one or two of the Video Poker tournaments betting just $5 max. They don't include doubling as a wager so it's best to double in the tournaments sometimes. They score the tournaments based on profit divided by wagered amount so it's best to keep the amount wagered low.

Now compare the number one position on the Poker Stars leader board. the player is Shaundeeb he has played 3226 tournaments and cashed 515 times. That's 15.96% of the time he plays tournaments he will cash.
At the player data base you can compare your stats to those who are winning. I am fairly happy with mine at 11% though I would like to do better. When I compare it looks to me that I'm pretty close percentage wise as the current leaders. I'm thinking that if you can cash somewhere in between 10 to 20% of the tournaments you play then your doing something right. OKay, so I still can't get into my account details. However, it occurs to me that this is how I could tell if the bonus is live. Except, since I can't get into my account, I can't see what tickets I have. However, when you view upcoming tournaments in the poker client, it DOES show you which tournaments you have a ticket for. So it would show that I have or don't have a ticket for one of these tournaments.
Except the tournaments don't seem to be runnning yet. So once they start, assuming they haven't fixed the problems with the website yet (sigh) I'll give this a try. I'd say the player who has won a few, but consistently makes it into the top 15. That's solidly in the money, with the added perk of having some championships on the resume. The person who frequently makes it to the final table but never closes the deal is in danger of being labelled a "choker".

I would play in a lot of the smaller tournaments at the major tournament sites.
Several of the $1500-$3000 WSOP tournaments as well as the $1000-$3000 tournaments that are before the WPT 'main events'.
I wouldn't spend more than $20,000 at any of the 'major tournaments' and I would try to play as many tournaments with buy-ins from $100-$500 as I could.

PokerStars is offering a.. Let me re-phrase that. The PPA (Poker Players Alliance) is offering over 20 $5k tournaments for US players only. Each US player can play in one $5k Tournament. Winner typically gets $700-$1000.
Anyways, the tourneys are on at the following times: 19:50pm Eastern, 21:20pm Eastern, and 22:50pm Eastern.
(If this has already been posted, ery sorry)
These tournaments are a bit tricky. By entering one of these tournaments PokerStars has the right to give the PPA your information (address, phone number etc.). In other words: By playing in this tournament you become a member of the PPA.
Anyways.. Good luck to all players playing in these tournaments. A thanks is due to the PPA for offering over $100k in Freeroll tournaments for the US.
Hope this helped.

With the heavy TV coverage of poker tournaments and the numerous poker sites on the internet, people are starting to think "you know, I have a chance to play in one of those tournaments I see on TV." With the usual sports on TV, you need to be athletic in some shape or form. In poker, ANYBODY can win regardless of their physical form. Young, old, male, female, etc. It doesn't matter. It matters on mental skill, stragedy and some luck. I think this is another factor to consider to explain the growing popularity of poker. What do you think?

The points are used to register into free tournaments...basically you play 100 hands you get 1 point, the points can be used to enter into free tournaments as the "buy in". This rewards players who play a lot at the site and encourages players to play more. In arious occasions you get bonus points for depositing real money. Using points to register for tournaments also discourages bad play (for the most part) in freeroll tournaments because it takes a while to build up your points and you don't get people going all in with nothing and catching cards.
Paradise poker doesn't offer points you can just register in the tournament for free.

The cost of people playing longer is relatively minimal in terms of actual cost with the low amount of power usage per game and equipment, the only real benefit I could see to speeding up play in tournaments would be to get them to buyin to another tournament more quickly. While this is speculation, I don't see a significant enough reason for them to try to speed up tournament play artificially. It may make their tournaments slightly more profitable but I imagine they get the bulk of their money from cash games rather than tournaments just like in live poker rooms as they collect money from each hand. They'd likely therefore be far more likely to rig live games than tournaments. While I doubt any legitimate sites would rig their games, it would make more sense to do so in situations where there'd be a higher profit such as cash games than tournaments.

Forum: Bonus Whores | I am of the opinion that you are better off playing in some of the donkier lower buyin tournaments. I would avoid throwing half of your $1000 at a big event. That is too much gambling for your bankroll. Hit up tournaments from $22 up to an occasional $55. If you have a big hit in one of those events THEN parlay it into a Sunday Special. If you play non holdem games the tournaments are even softer IMO. O8 and Stud8 tournaments can have soft players and also tend to be far less taggy.

I would say, steer clear of the cash tables and stick to tournaments with a small bankroll.
Not only can you maximise your winnings through tight tournament play but it also mains you can gain maximum experience playing tournaments without risk of losing your shirt in cash games.
What I am trying to say is, in tournaments - you can learn the game a hell of alot better than you can playing cash games. Because if you bust out - you can just buyin to another and learn from your mistakes. I dont think a small bankroll can ever work in cash games due to the sickness...
Poker is all about experience and learning from your mistakes. You will learn alot more the more you play and with a small bankroll you will get more play out of micro buy in tournaments than micro limit cash games.
You will hit a brick wall and get destroyed and even though this happens in tournaments - its not so severe.
Hope this helps!
