You are correct there!
Quote:
2. Earn FPPs for tournament play
Five (5) FPPs are awarded for each $1 in tournament fees paid.
For example, playing in a poker tournament with $20 buy-in and $2 tournament fee, each player will be awarded 10 FPPs. *Note that partial Frequent Player Points are always rounded to the nearest whole number.
In a $5 buy-in Sit & Go poker tournament with only a $0.50 fee, 3 FPPs (instead of 2.5) will be awarded to each player who played poker in the tournament.
In a $5 buy-in 4-player Heads-Up Sit & Go poker tournament with only a $0.25 fee, 1 FPP (instead of 1.25) will be awarded to each player who played poker in the tournament.

Often times I find myself making stupid and crazy plays in my regular games, so every once in a while I play the 10 cent rebuy tournament on full tilt poker.
I noticed that whenever i play this tournament, I begin to do well in all of my other tournaments i may be playing at the time. I guess it is a way where i can play reckless and still be ok in terms of my bankroll...
the tournament is in a way, theraputic...it helps me keep my donkey play away from the larger buy in tournament circuit
and i cash in the the tournament almost every time on top of that, so hey, its a good tournament for me as well

I read an article that announces the winner of the first ever extreme poker tournament. This tournment was played underwater.
Every player was 30 feet below sea level while snorkeling above, a host of tournament spectators silently watched the tournament. The tournament was situated next to a spectacular Caribbean reef and the tournament was also isited by several colorful fish and a curious (and potentially dangerous) stingray. The poker table was submerged using weighted anchors attached to the table's underside and traditional chips and waterproof cards were used. Whenever a player was out, they returned to the surface and land. They also had to use thir time wisely due to the fact they only had so much air.
This tournament obviously added more factors in the game. Think of it, "I would have won if I wasn't running out of air." What do you think of this?

If you were an outsider looking in at Online poker, what would you do to insure the integrity of Online Poker? Now keep in mind us Poker players are going to want this and that, but not that or the other thing. But you have the ability to insure (as much as possible) that there would be no cheating.
I think.....
1. Once you establish an indentity online, that is yours no matter where you play.
2. You must play a tournament on 1 ISP. If your Internet fails during a tournament, you mus pre-register another ISP in order to finish the tournament.
Any other thoughts?

My last experience at Absolute.
I registered for a $25 buy in $8000 guaranteed NL Tournament at Absolute cheaters (poker).
I played well. When the tourney had only two tables left and it was obvious I was going to the last table, I got locked out of the tournament.
After being locked out of the tournament, I could still move about the Absolute Poker site, I could even go and sit down at a cash ring game and play, play blackjack for real money, I even registered for another tournament (didn't play it though)....
But I could NOT get back into that $8000 guaranteed tournament, I could not even see the tournament table... Until after the tournament was over. Although, I had no problem watching any other table play during this time.
I blinded out in the money... I made $56. However, I was the tourney chip leader (three times more chips than the #2 guy, when I was locked out) and I was a shoe-in to place in the top three.

I actually mostly play against men.
Last year I signed up for a 275 woman poker tournament. I'd never been in a room with so many woman who were into playing poker too.
I was still learning alot so the point of doing the woman's tournament was just for the experience, I hoped to come in the top 50, well I made it to 70th place.
Many of the women at this tournament were aggressive and I was certainly bullied since I, at the time, was quite conservative.
I have since learned to add some aggression to my play and this has improved my overall standing in home tournament games.
I still overall like playing cash games and I also like playing against guys more than gals....maybe I like many of their tendencies to play differently against me... <grin>
Cheers,

I don't mind the questions, I'm happy to help. I also try to post the tournament # in the password thread to make finding our tournaments a little easier. It's pretty easy to spot our games on Poker Stars once you get to the private tournament lobby, but Full Tilt does not allow titles like they do on PS, so it can be a little more difficult to find.
Poker Stars has a search function to search for tournaments by ID # to make it even easier. To use the search function on the poker sites using the tournament ID number, go to "Requests" at the top of the lobby window, then click "Find a Tournament" in the drop-down menu. Copy/paste tournament ID, and iola! There it is!
I mistakenly thought that Full Tilt also had the search feature, but unfortunately, they don't. They only have player search.

I think this depends mainly on what kind of tournament you're playing in, where that tournament is, and what you've observed about the other players at the table. For example, early in a freeroll at Absolute Poker, there are lots of crazies who go all in on nothing (I'd say close to 25% of the people in the tournament). Not that you should fold it, but I wouldn't raise it either. This early, I wouldn't want to start blowing money on raises that I have a good chance of losing when someone goes all-in. On the other hand, at Noble Poker there are fewer players and they are mainly much tighter, so you could raise 2x BB. I know mainly about freerolls, so it's probably different in money buy-in tournaments.

While I can see where you're coming from, I'm not so sure it's fair to judge a poker player on his tournament record, given that many - most, is my guess - of the B&M professionals make their primary income from playing cash games. His career poker income is probably something that is known only to him and the IRS (and I'm not so sure about the IRS )
Then again, he DID write Tournament Poker for Advanced Players. So if he does enter a lot of tournaments and don't really fare well in them - fair enough.

Hi Just wanted to update everyone that I recieved my check from this place today. Took about 2 weeks. Also, played in their blackjack tournament a few days ago. They had a few glitches with the live standings page but once those were worked out everything whet fine. It was fun. A tournament like a tournament is supposed to be played, and not that garbage of keep making deposits and betting tons of money and if your in the top 10 you get a mousepad (HA HA Just had to throw that in there)
I was impressed with the tournament too. Being able to see live standings of about 30 players continously throughout the 2 hours the tournament was played. Everything about this place impresses me, well organized on the cash ins and outs, full pay ideo poker, the blackjack wasn't bad either, the tournaments, good customer support. Why can't they all be like this?????????

Jesus may be the best all-around, but Hellmuth has to be arguably the best NL tournament player alive. He is a NL tournament specialist.
And to address the OP, I like him, and have defended him here on these and a couple of other forums as well. I think he has done a lot for poker in the way of endorsement deals an the like for the younger players coming up now.
Edit: I just re-read my post and I didn't want to give the impression that I was saying Chris Ferguson was the best all around tournament player, but he has to be considered when talking about that distinction.

Hi
Just wondering if poker tracker is any good for checking tournament play, or is it solely a cash game thing. Any other info on poker tracker would be appreciated, just downloaded it, and it won't import my hh, which are all just tournament hands.
Cheers
Shandy
