Hello poker friends,
I need some advice. To upgrade my game I want to read some good books about poker. I don't know wich books can help me the best, so maybe somebody can give me some tips.
Other tips besides books are also welcome.
Greetings

I LOVE bingo. The site I generally go thru is at www.itz-hot.com
I like the information pages for fresh tips on how to win. Nothing magical there about the tips, basic common sense information and a few tips on what to watch out for.

Hello,
Just wondering if anybody could provide some useful poker tips or common actions a person may make in certain situations at a table - offline poker tournaments!
E.g. a player may be bluffing if they lean back, or may have a hand if they lean forward!
Tips like that.. obviously they have to be taken in conjunction with a persons playing patterns and other signals! But they can help!
Thanks

Hey to all other players,
I started playing poker just recently. I never understood the attraction of the game - but now I will do!!! At the moment I am only playing with friends but I want to try online poker soon.
However, I have the feeling that I still have to learn a lot and therefore I am reading a lot in different forums and so on.
What I can not get find was a homepage that has really concise poker tips (e.g what to play with which hand), because it takes a loooot of time to look that up in forums. I googled but only ended up with pages like this for example called spam, but it is NOT what I am looking more. It is just a collection of articles but I can't take a lot of information out of them. There are loads of websites like that out there.
Does any of you have any recommendation concerning a good website with poker tips??
I would be happy about any suggestion.
Thanks,

I plan on playing satellites and cash tourneys with an eye towards the $5000 NLHE Main Event.
They will be having daily $300+40 and $175+25 tourneys as well as satellites and mega-satellites leading up to the Main Event. I'm hoping to have a bankroll of $6000 to $10,000 to devote to this event.
I don't have a lot of live MTT tournament experience and would appreciate some tips from those of you who do.
Poker tips are welcome but would also like some "If I knew then, what I know now" type of tips, and logistics types of tips.
The ast majority of my experience is on-line. Any tips for me to remember as I transition to this live event?
I'll be staying at the casino hotel. Are the breaks long enuf to run to my room?

poker dealers here in Tulsa Oklahoma, keep their own tips, but the other tbales games, the share all by shift.
and i always tip the dealer when i win a pot, the 1-2 on small pots and 5-15 depending on the huge stacks i get. and if i won a lot when they are there, i will throw them a nother 20-25 when they leave. and then the next dealers will have already heard or seen it. they become ery friendlyto. make me feel good lol
when i leave, i think, dang, i gave away about 100-125 in tips tonight lol

AG, do you have any idea how much the dealers would be making in tips? Read the toke sheet and it made absolutely zero sense to me.
The base rate of pay kinda surprised me though - six bucks an hour?!? I make AUD$35 an hour (call it $30 US - we don't get tips) just working corporate functions and bar nights over here, just wondering if the tips would bring it up to anything resembling that kind of rate...

OK, OK. You are both right.
When you watch the poker pros on TV, you can get good tips from them. But you also have to keep in mind the type of opponents they are playing. They are so good because they adapt to the table. At certain times, I've seen Gus Hansen be the tightest at the table and I've seen Dan Harrington bluff his ass off. They can both "change gears" to fit the table.
You definitely shouldn't play a 5c/10c online table like the pros play on High Stakes Poker, but you can get a few great tips from that show.

well its the 50 poker tips of wisdom by daniel negranuea....so far its a little bit better than the other books which talk about the top ten hands to play and what to bet.......its more like tips and little things you can do to pretty much play like daniel does....stuff about table talk and stuff like that but most of it is for begginers or novices.

My understanding is that it gets up to a sufficient level, although somewhat less than the dealers want to make of course.
$30 is pretty good for the work you are doing, I was getting about $25 for a similar situation.

I took a look at the CBS site for information on the upcoming online gambling program. What did I see but a link on that page mentioning 'A poker playing guide and terms, top players, famous poker faces and more on the game'.
A few clicks deeper and you will wibe offered a mail with so called poker tips. And who is advertised there? None other than Pacific Poker, Noble Poker, Paradise Poker and Empire Poker. I hope they mention that on the program LOL

I don't want to get started in an argument again, but in my opinion if you like to play ideo poker, I would suggest Rosies Chalk Island that has FULL PAY Deuces Wild and also A Joker Poker game and a Bonus Poker. They have a 10% promotion, can't remember all the details, just go to their site. Also Gamemaster has a lot of tips on ideo poker.

I forgot to add: tips are a motivational tool. Establishments that pay their service people an hourly wage and ban tips tend to provide terrible customer service unless the shift runner is a whip-cracking tyrant. That's why call centre support usually reeks like rotten dung.

I found the tips from these DVDs to be really useful -- I originally got ahold of the DVDs from my job at Universal, we just started distributing them. Perraud is a great teacher, as far as making everything straight forward and useful for your next game, but there's definitely advanced strategies that I haven't gotten around to applying yet. The other pro tips are useful as always, too.
Anyone else familiar with these, I highly recommend them for the amateur player like myself? Here's some more info on them at this link.

You didn't say how much the all in was but I'm assuming early in a tourny that it was significant. So you were risking a lot of chips for 250 chip pot with a 1 in 6 draw. Definitely chasing and a ery bad play. I would suggest reading some of the articles here Poker Strategy - Poker Theory, Poker Articles, Strategies & Tips.

Are you sure you read that whole thread AND the instructions? Instructions said 1 tip and 2 sentences max. After the first page or so, people were writing paragraphs. I was going to compile the 100 best tips to publish here on CC, but the freeform that the thread took on made it impossible to edit down to an organized list. Unfortunately, I had to give up.
Even in this thread, people are already starting to ignore the instructions in the title:

I've read Poker for Dummies and 52 Tips (in fact, apart from Harrington, they're the only books I have read - The theory of poker + Super system 2 are over Ģ20 in shops in UK ($35). Poker for Dummies is actually quite good (for beginners obviously!) but I didn't really get much out of the other one.
