Topic: Jokers in poker games - HELP!!!! Forum: Card Chat

thats the rules, right?

Have fun finding the rules in any poker book, hoyle or anything about Jokers.
So by adding the Jokers is going against the rules cause there are no rules.
Like I said before.. the rule book has no 5 of a kind cause the Royal Flush is the highest denominating hand.

Since there can't be a 5 of a kind placed into the hand..Then that hand is Unatural per you can't get it per the rules. Is it higher then a straight or royal flush?? We know it beats 4 of a kind..

This is another reason why I hate wilds/jokers.. it screws up the basic rules of poker..

Reminds me of free parking in Monopoly.. rules state its only a spot to land on yet people have implimented money given to a player who lands on it.

I've seen the Roberts Rules of Poker, and I'm not looking for a beginner's guide. I know how to play poker. I just wanted to know if there was an actual rulebook. I own a baseball rulebook, is there anything similar to that for poker (NLHE to be specific)? From what I've seen Roberts Rules of Poker isn't really a rulebook, just rules of courtesy, what to do in irregular situations, etc. Casinos have to go by some rulebook right? I just can't find one anywhere.

Does anyone here autorate players in poker tracker, and if you do do you use the default rules supplied in the program or do you have some custom rules. I play NL, so if anyone has any good rules for autorating players and is willing to share, let me know.

Just got an email from support,

Hello,

31. In heads-up play with two blinds, the small blind is on the button.

This is from Robert's Rules of Poker. Chapter 15 in regards to Tournments.
The benefit of this is that you (dealer) get to act last after the flop ect.
I hope this helps.

Both hole cards must be used and you have to have quad tens or better. The rules can be found under "Poker School", it's listed at the bottom after the rules of all the games they offer....I only noticed it because I was looking up the rules of "soko" which I had never heard of before.

I know, what's with that? I guess I'm just someone that plays by the rules, maybe I'm not creative enough to make up new ones...I'm not saying it's cheating or anything but when was "house rules" implemented anyway? I thought the creator of the game set the rules....what makes anyone think they can do any better?

Unfortunately rules are rules, regardless of who breaks them and what the consequences.

In my book Neptune has been an impeccable casino with the highest ethics for years, and they still are.

Would I be miffed if I wasn't paid that money? Of course! What a let down!

But we can't expect casinos to stick to the rules when it is in our favor and to ignore them when it's not.

If it's a clean industry we want (and that is exactly what I always want to shoot for) we do have to support the rules.

It is a stupid rule but if that's the way it's in the books this year...so be it. You can't go changing rules on the fly.

Daniel is on the committee that sets the rules. He or someone should have flagged this before. Regardless, he'll get it changed now.

Sucks for him and I can see why he's pissed but rules is rules no matter how stupid they are.

I suppose it depends on the poker site (most of them are slow to enforce any kind of rules regarding ettiquette) but telling an opponent your exact hand during the hand IS against the rules in major tournaments and can get you fined or ejected from the tournament.

What's not against the rules (usually) is telling your opponent that you have a monster hand and he should fold. But if you do have a monster I think it's kind of stupid to tell someone about it.

In ring games, if it's not against a site's rules, it should be. It is NOT proper poker ettiquette (and even trying to verbally intimidate an opponent is questionable). And crying about folding a hand that would have HIT a monster while the hand is being played fits into this category. If you fold a 72 and the flop comes 222, don't go saying damn, I folded a 2 while players are still in the pot.

But of course there are plenty of people on poker sites or forums that are going to verbally abuse people and break whatever r...

Topic: A general poker question Forum: Card Chat

Well, like everything else in poker, there are no simple answers here. As far as legality of declaring your hand, the general answer is what ET (phone home...lol) posted above. However, tournament rules always take precedence over that. For example, in the National Heads-up Championship, the rules specifically state that a person contemplating calling an all in bet may expose their hand without it being killed in an attempt to get a reaction. Those are the rules. Jamie Gold never actually exposed or said what his exact hands were while in the middle of a hand (at least not in the footage I've seen). He did skirt the rules some, but the tournament director confirmed for everyone (players, commentators, and spectators alike) that, like it or not, Jamie was working within the rules. Again, house rules.

As far as betting out of turn, it is poor ettiquette (sp?) and should be dealt with. Now it would be different if he was UTG, as minraising PF (lol) is basically just putting a stradle on the hand a...

I will deposit on 4/10. This is how I feel about it.

Poker is a game of skill. If you have the poker game to clear a bonus and make a little money, great. Empire poker (or any poker room) sets the rules for a bonus release. We follow them and hopefully we are rewarded. We grind, take calculated risks and hopefully come out ahead.

This ten dollar offer is penalty for players who follow the bonus rules. It is masked as a "thank you" which is really insulting.

My biggest loss in poker would have to be when I first started playing poker, and I had a bit of money I thought I would go round a mates house who plays poker often with his friends. The pot got to about £800 and about £350 of that was mine I had triple 10's so I was fairly confident and at that time I wasn't too sure on the rules and this guy called Adam had a Flush. I felt sick afterwards and at first thought he just made up what a flush was because he knew I didn't know the rules properly. hehe

How much have you ever lost in the past?

My wish list, some of which have already been posted.

Percise deposit and withdrawal information. This should include the different options and associated fees. I have seen sites where you don't find out that there is a fee until you cash out, or it's not mentioned at all. These rules should be stated on a page that all can see when reviewing a site for the first time. Also, when the cashins are processed and stick to it.

Rules and payout schedules that one can look at before signing up. Rules on games like blackjack and baccaret are so often incomplete.

Bonus rules that are not ambigious.

The change of rules that CasinoNow posted above is a great idea.

I completely agree with you. The only time I will ever bet into a side pot is if I know that I have the nuts. Then I will see if I can get paid off even more. But if I don't have the nuts, then I will check it down to have the best chance of eliminating a player.

And of course, you ethically can't say anything at the table about checking it down as that makes it collusion (per Roberts Rules of Poker). Most likely online poker sites won't enforce it, but live poker games will. Checking it down to the end when another player is all in is one of those unwritten rules that people need to learn.

I'm almost positive that not everyone who has shown interest in propping by emailing them and even registering will get in the 175% program.
They simply cannot afford that. Poker sites are not in the business for paying the players .
I've received the latest emails, too, and they still do not mention what kind of rules there will be.

The (only) good news was , they at least seem to have a poker prop manager, so maybe they somehow can manage to pay 175%, but only under knowledgeable supervision, and maybe under somewhat stricter rules than in other prop programs

When I decided to start playing poker, I used the money I would usually spend on other entertainment (movies, eating out, new clothes) to fund my original bank roll. I have managed to build it up quite a ways, but I still adhere to strict brm rules. I want to be a profitable poker player, not just a poker player who can afford to donk off a pile of money. The only way I can continue to show a profit (the only measure of success that matters to me) is to abide by those rules.

ROFLMAO!!

Gotta love answers like that!

Sadly, the dispute is greater than just one chap. I'm based in South Africa, where poker has exploded overnight, though as one might imagine, less attention is paid to the rules/the law than to who is bringing the beer/pizza!

Rules change even from Casino to casino in the same city, so I was really not sure there even was one definitive set of rules! Thanks for clearing that up.

Fortunately, I enforced the "Sole Adjudicator' rule, and used the help already supplied in this thread to make the decisions.

Anyone who plays our home games never feel guilty about taking friend/family's money during poker play, and our home games are almost a regular weekend event around here and everyone who plays knows ahead of time the house rules and limits. House rules are set by, of course the home owner. Those rules are - what game(s) to be played during the day or evening and max buy in of chips. So everyone who plays knows before hand how much they could lose for that particular day.
