I just read a series of articles about shuffling of cards and online gaming on Wikipedia. It detailed shuffling of a regular deck and more importantly, it details randomization of numbers in computerized card games and the legal issues involved.

From what I have read, the profit margin is higher at online casinos because the overhead is lower. Consider the land casino competition. Free meals, free drinks, free hotel rooms, free matchplays, free show tickets, free plane tickets, free just about anything. Let's not forget that you get paid the same day. They don't even require that you lose to get this stuff.
How can an online casino compete with that, without free bonus money? What else is it that they have to offer that is superior to land casinos? What is it about an online casino that can draw customers other the convenience of livingroom playing?
It is like crossing from the Mer Griffin to tha Taj. The one that gives the best comps is the one I play at. After all, the games are the same. BJ is BJ. Why should it be any different online?

Why would I want to pay for a membership at an online poker site when I can play for free at basically any major online poker site online today... as well, when I want to play a tourney, I will pay my buy in, and play... If something comes up with my production company, and I have to do... lets say a month long shoot, I am out 50 bucks for a membership and not having much time to play any major tournaments.....I dont know but I dont think you should have to pay to belong to a online gambling site... Also, if you want to test a software by playing for "free", a membership does not allow for people to test our what an online poker site is all about!

With regard to free tournaments, are you talking live or online? Online there's loads of them - as a result, there's usually loads of people in them too and the prizes aren't big, but hey, what do we want for nothing? Check out the freerolls forum on here, Cardschat organise free games with cash prizes on a number of sites regularly. Often you'll find they're 'better' games than the regular freerolls too, and the payout structures are much better (paying the top 10% rather than the top 1%, for example).
Live is a different question, but you've still got options for free games. I'm from Melbourne, so I'm not 100% sure if it's the same deal in Sydney, but you should be able to find games run by the likes of the Australian Poker League, National Poker League, Pub Poker League or any number of others. Currently - I'm playing World Poker Tour for the PSP and loving it. Also thinking of getting the World Poker Tour when it comes out for the X Box 360. Can't wait for next week when Texas Hold'em is coming out for the X Box Arcade so you can play against friends online ia the 360.

World Poker Exchange (WorldPx.com) today announced that it will no longer keep rake or tournament fees collected from its online poker players.
Under World Poker Exchange’s “No Rake” program, the rake for both cash games and tournament play will be eliminated across the board. At the end of each week, World Poker Exchange will refund the rake and tournament fees back into the player’s account.
“It’s completely free, there are no strings attached,” said Haden Ware, World Poker Exchange’s managing director.
World Poker Exchange will make no money from its site.
The site’s able to offer free, real money poker because its parent site, the online sports betting portal World Sports Exchange, has a large, loyal customer base and does so well. The company doesn’t depend on poker as its main revenue stream, therefore it’s able to offer the rake-free poker room as an incentive to customers to isit and play at both sites.

First of all Skott, i realise this must have been a bad experience for you, but really i think you have chosen the wrong method for withdrawl, there are many different methods and i'm sure you would find a different method easier.

Troyt, Noble Poker is possibly the best site i play online poker on. The table action is amazing, only site i know with characters and oices, really entertaining. Also the online supoort they offer is by far and away the best i have seen on any site. So if for instance you were having problems depositing or withdrawls then they would assist you as soon as you ask a question.
I recommend you do use Noble Poker. Also Cardschat has a free roll on it and the Free Rolls they offer are also good, arious times a day, and a large prize pool.

Hi everyone.
I'm fairly new to the game of Poker, especially playing it online. Until recently (a couple months ago) I just played with a few mates for small sums of cash over a drink and for a few laughs. I'm not really all that good just yet - still learning the game and losing mostly! I want to try to get better at Poker (holdem) and think that maybe playing online might help. I've been looking around loads of online poker sites and came across 2 that seem pretty cooool.
