Online gambling is officially banned in China. The primary reason would not be the credit card issue.
The bottom line is, China is a socialist country, and gambling is a rotten product of capitalism. Under these circumstances, gambling of all sorts, prostitution....would not be blatantly allowable in the foreseeable future. Neither for promotions nor in free-trade zones.

Day trading is little different from gambling. You buy a stock and hope it goes up (or down, depending on what you bought) enough to cash out. Same with foreign exchange - people "bet" big money on the smalles fluctuations in the alue of one currency to another.
Day trading rooms in Asia - whether for forex, or stocks - are lavish, to say the lease - perhaps in some cases even more so than Vegas casinos. Traders eat free, drink free and often get other forms of inducements to keep coming back.
Now, I'm obviously not a day trader in the US - but do a little digging on day trading and you will find it is ery much lilke gambling.
Is it the same as doubling down? Well, doubling down is an advantage to the player. Stock trading, the player has information at his hands to make what is hoped to be an informed decision.
I'd say they were pretty similar.

Gambling with an edge can be done on various types of gambling if you are skilled, but its still gambling.

The censorship of the Saudi government makes no sense at all and seems to be completly subjective.

Has anyone else noticed on TV that some sites in their commercials state that they are not a gambling site. 1st why do they do that? Is it to appear that they comply with some government law about gambling. And 2nd how do they get away with saying that, when all u have to do to check it is go onto the site in question and place a bet for yourself, and actually see it is a gambling site. I my self like the fact you can sit in your own home and wager your money and have some fun at home. I know Poker Stars and Party Poker's commercials state this everytime.

They, along with several other sites, have decided the market was too big to drop out of. A few of the others are PokerStars, Bodog, Absolute, UltimateBet.
The new law does not make playing internet poker illegal, it does make transfering money electronically to any gambling site illegal. Many of the work arounds deal with whether or not Poker is gambling. The legal definition of gambling would include almost all stock market plays so there is a whole lot of back stage wrangling going on. After all, the whole concept of a free money economy is at stake.

I don't think that this will fly, but it has worked in the past in physical machines. I'll give you an example. There was a time when any type of slot machine or ideo poker game was completely prohibited in the state of California. Game manufacturers quickly came up with a way to get around the laws though.
What the did was develope a candy dispensing machine. Players would walk up to the machine, drop in a dime and get candy dispensed to them. As a bonus, the purchase of the candy would earn them a free play on a reel slot type game also built into the machine, and they would actually win real money from this. Since the spin was free, the player technically was not making a wager, and therefore no one could say they were gambling. The machines went unquestioned for years, until the government noticed that people would stand there for hours dropping dimes into the machines, even though the candy dispenser was empty. Hmmm. After the Belle Rock fiasco, why even take up a free spin offer that does not specifically state the # of lines and coin size?
I don't see why you are mad at the casino for making the spins only 25 cents, when that information wasn't given ahead of time. You were gambling that they would be generous.
It seems like the new free spins promo feature on MG is popular among players, but some of the casinos are taking advantage by not diclosing the real alue of the spins and then making them really worthless. If people wanted to play free spins for no alue they would go to fun mode.

Gambling with an edge can be done on various types of gambling if you are skilled, but its still gambling.

Except for the fact that §285 StGB (German code of law) declares participation in illegal gambling such as poker to be a felony, you're quite right except for the high taxes on alcohol which really isn't that bad. Online poker is a shady area though, no place or court ruling I'm aware of that ever states whether participation is to be considered illegal in accordance to the definition of gambling.
Winnings from gambling are tax free as they cannot, by name of law, be considered taxable earnings. That's the good part of living in a country that has some of the worst ever views on gambling.
