Yes, THIS is why the credit card companies blocked it. Not because it's illegal, but because they were paying the bills as a result. To my knowledge, no individual has ever been charged with internet gambling as a crime, let alone indicted or convicted. RUNNING an internet gambling site in the US is definitely illegal, but using one is much fuzzier.
