To summarize thread:

A guy signed up at a site and an affiliate got credit that he had never heard of and he couldn't get in the free tourney that he expected to.

My question was not so mush WHETHER to delete cookies before signing up at a new site since it seems like a good idea, but what method to use to make sure there are no rogue cookies that will give credit where it is not due.

Since there are many good cookies on my system that I want to keep and there is no effective way to search and destroy the bad ones, I am looking for alternative methods. I thought of 2, one of which I proposed.

1 - Using administrative tools, create new user account on system. Use that account ONLY to sign up at new sites linking thru the appropriate affiliate. Once the signup process is complete, log out of that account (Windows makes that easy) and log back on using your normal account to play at the site.

Before signing up at next site, log on to new user account, delete cookies, and repeat.

2 - Rather than creating and using a new user account on system, you could use backup program to backup your temp internet folder, clear out temp internet folder( including cookies), sign up at site linking thru appropriate affilate, use the backup restore to restore your temp internet folder (along with cookies).

This methed is more cumbersome because the it takes time to backup and restore each time where switching users is fairly fast.

My idea was based on my understanding of the Windows O/S but I wanted to verify it with a geek.
