Erez,

I am bitterly disappointed in CheckNRaise. I am a respected contributor on three major poker forums and I’ve praised CnR in all of them. You people are making me look like an idiot and I REALLY hate that. When news of this breaks I can only guess at its impact on the large online poker community. I’ve kept the news to a select circle because, perhaps selfishly, I’d like to get paid and I don’t want CnR blacklisted anywhere because that would hurt your bottom line and mine.

I appreciate that you may be having cash flow problems and that you want to make things “right” with me and the 9 other players who won tickets. However, your terms are unacceptable.

The idea that you would be still paying me and the other 9 for the 2006 WSOP ME ticket nearly a year AFTER the 2007 WSOP is ridiculous. You need to pay us at least a $1000 a month for 11 months.

Frankly the extra $1000, while a nice gesture, won’t even cover the cost of the hotel I’ve already booked and paid for (non-refundable). There’s also the matter of the non-refundable plane tickets I bought. My father also bought non-refundable tickets so that he could come watch me play. I had to pay for tickets for my father-in-law and a family friend to fly down to my home so that they could help my wife with our newborn daughter while I was away for two weeks trying to win life-changing money (the only reason I’d leave them for that long, and now I won’t). I’m not mentioning all this to tally up a new sum that I think you owe me. If you’re having cash flow problems I’m frankly worried about getting any money from CnR. But you people need to understand the full impact of what you’ve done to us and the lengths to which many of us went to represent CnR at the World Series.

I do have one suggestion and since I don’t know how your affiliation with the Ongame network works, it might not be possible to implement. The network is sponsoring the 5 Million Dollar Guaranteed Poker Classic tournament and as far as I know all the “skins” on the network are promoting this tournament. I don’t know if tickets for the various stages of the tournament come out of your profits or not but if they don’t or if they come at a discount, I think it would be appropriate to give us a ticket to one of the Stage 3 qualifiers or even the $5000+200 main event (assuming this doesn’t result in exactly the same problem you’re having now with the WSOP tickets). This way we still have a chance to represent CnR at a major landbased tournament. But this should be in addition to what you’ve already offered us, NOT a substitute (though we might negotiate over the $11,000 offer if a $5000 ticket is possible, but the 10 of us should decide separately if it comes to that).

Finally, and this is most important of all, you MUST get to each of us a written and signed document specifying the terms we finally agree to so if there are personnel or management changes at CnR over the period when the 10 of us are still being paid for our WSOP tickets, we will have some assurance that someone just isn’t going to take our money and run (or conveniently forget our arrangements). You’ll forgive me if my trust in CnR has been shaken a bit.
