What you wrote, however, doesn't address my concern about your product. If you are "purely a software supplier" and enact no regulatory measures, then the individual sites which lease your product are free to steal from players without any threat of punishment other than that of the marketplace.
An analogous example to your company is Dobrosoft. Not long ago, Dobrosoft leased their poker software to an illegitimate organization called Choice Poker that stole player deposits. As a result, many players have sworn off all new sites using the Dobrosoft software, because we know that Dobrosoft enacts no regulation over those who can afford the price of their software. Considering Chartwell Technology's association with blackjack.com, intelligent players will treat any poker site that uses your software with the same suspicion as we do sites that use Dobrosoft's software. Since you enacted no regulation over blackjack.com, we have no assurances that Chartwell poker sites won't run off with our money as well.
A counterexample is Microgaming. Microgaming does regulate the sites which use their software, and therefore experienced online gamblers will happily deposit into a new Microgaming site without concern for the safety of their bankrolls.
Experienced players are essential to the success of a poker room, because experienced players will continue to feed the rake long after unskilled players bust out. By enacting no regulation over the sites that use your software, you are ensuring the ultimate failure of those sites, because the experienced online poker players necessary for their success will take their business to safer, regulated websites. |
